so you mean just because the review is there they should immidiatly stop working on it and start their next project?
it does not work like this anymore .. and reviews are just merely a guide with varrying results ... as such you don´t focus on one but read the impressions of many ... single reviews long lost power with the age of internet and people being able to say their own opinions weither they think the review is fair or not ...
there is absolutly a point in further improving the game as you get new players in and keep your existing playerbase that can spread possitive information ... a review might stick forever but is also only a critic for one point in time ..
as such you can´t take a review as absolute but look at most recent impressions as the game continues to grow further ..

Assuming IGN is a reputable source of information.

Yeah, as I said, I hate IGN, they're biased and basically worthless as a source for reasoned reviews.

But nonetheless, I think Uber (and the rest of us) would have to be naive in the extreme to expect them to re-review PA already.

I'm not saying that they should, I'm saying that they will. Ideally they would continue working on the game for another year and we'd have something special. It wouldn't make financial sense for them to do that though, as there is no pot of gold and media splash even if they did get it right.

As people have said over and over again, regardless of whether you or I find IGN as a reputable source of information many casual and inexperienced gamers do find it as a great source of information. So while it may not actually be the best library of information, it's certainly a "very sought-after source of information" by many of the masses. So reviews like these do actually matter.

Counting on IGN to do a re-review of this game is like a dream considering they just reviewed it so recently (unless they receive so much flak from the public; which doesn't appear as so). The best way to move forward with positive reviews is for Uber to finish cracking functions/bugs/performance (Naval, Orbital, Tutorials, etc.), and then to come up with a content pack in the future with new planets, units, etc. and label it as an expansion. Even if the content is not too much, simply labeling it as an expansion and creating a justifiable price tag with the content it provides will provoke many new reviews of this "expansion". For examples I can point you to the very recent Age of Wonders 3: Golden Realms expansion, which included not as much as a normal expansion, but at a price tag of $10 on release. It was reviewed rather quickly as well, and triumph studios doesn't have much into marketing. Uber could do the same thing with better success IMO.

TL;DR: nothing will change, move on. But it doesn't mean with careful planning of the future critic reviews can be "provoked" to look at the new state of the game following a massive update (like an expansion).
