TASER> CS GAS. CS is like a mild skin irratent, your eyes water a bit and some peoples noses run, I was dumb enough to help out the kid next to me who had no idea about how to use the mask, Drill came over riped my mask off and made me bend over the the lamp looking thing that they cooked the capsule on. Like I said it was mildly painful at first, made me cough alot but a taser. DAM you are not going to do shiz till its over and even after your whole body is messed up. your muscle ache cuz they just contracted about 10000000 times, and your nerual system is like  .

to the OP PM showyourheart if your still having trouble. Kid drives around with quantum physics books and math books with diagrams that I thought you used in chemistry.

I have been electrocuted before. I notice you can't move. Pleasant. Other than that, I wouldn't rate it high.

Funny is that it wasn't even a strong electrocution the first time. I just couldn't move my hand off of it, so I had to fall back.

    It's a parabola. A funny one too - it's off at a crazy angle.

Now, what confuses me, as an engineering student, is what the hell are you trying to do?

Where the hell does theta come in? It's not mentioned there at all.

[PS:] CompSci. wouldn't be doing maths this retarded. What they typically do is stats.

You find theta by Solving A-B/C = cos(2thetha) A being the leading coefficient of the x or y squared term, B is the coefficient of the xy term, and C is the coefficient of the second squared term. Once you have theta, you plug it into two new equations to get x' and y' prime in your equation and simplify. It won't be rotated in the given equation, but you have to rotate it by theta when you graph it.

Also, good thing I'm taking AP stats next year.

    -2(3xy) + 2(3xy)= 0

The ( ) is square root

I've never seen that relationship before, so I'm taking it on faith that it's correct.

Okay, I think I see how that works.

    That's. *******. Tedious.

I didn't see your other equations when I first read the thread. Making those known in the OP probably would have made life easier.

I expanded out the x^2, xy, and y^2 terms, noticed that they roughly cancel each other out (though I'm not convinced that using the cos^2 + sin^2 = 1 identity on [x' cos(t)]^2 + [x' sin(t)]^2 is allowed). The 2x and 2sqrt(3)y terms should finish the job.

Once I filled the page, I remembered that this wasn't my problem. Sorry about that.

    Also; http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=3*x^2+-+2sqrt(3)*x*y+%2b+y^2+%2b+2*x+%2b+2sqrt(3)*y+%3d+0

Thats probably what I did wrong. This looks better than the way I reduced it (although I am with bullet, as I still don't know what your trying to do with this. Looks like some Precal formula for breaking down parts).

Good luck, I agree that you will NEVER have to use this unless you go on to engineering. You will probably actually use half of precal and the introductory stuff of calculus. Glad I took this stuff before, however, as I like to know that I went out of my way to learn lots of things in life.
