all you're effectively doing is spreading the surface area of the characters across more screen real estate horizontally. you say it allows you to shoot them better but technically speaking it doesn't how they "look" does not effect your capacity to shoot them, you can adapt to either so in the end it's just a subjective matter that doesn't matter on the other hand technically you could say the time it takes when moving your mouse at same speed horizontally to cross a character from entering hitbox to leaving hitbox is longer .... but that's something you could change by editing the mouse speed very very slightly (because in the end from 4:3 to 16:9 that specific time will only be very slightly different) (and yes you can edit Y and X movement speed separately if that is an absolute necessity)
