I just thought - why do we not have a thread for one of the most amazing shows to come out ever?:D

Anyway about the latest episode -S4 episode 8.

Holy ****. I am so saddened by this. It was NOT meant to go that way.

I was jumping up and down and even until the last moment I thought Oberynn was going to pull something out of the bag.

I really wished they had kept him going though, he was an awesome character.

Because 'one of the most amazing shows to come out ever' is a subjective concept.

I watched the pilot. Got deterred by the porn.

Oberyn deserved to have his head squished for being so cocky.

I won the board game of Game of Thrones once. That's the closest I've gotten to the show/books.

Aside from that, I'm not really keen on a show which is just death and rape

noone disserves to have their head squished.

    I am literally traumatized.

Poor ******* dude. Poor, poor Oberynn, I just can't help imagine the distress he must have gone through in that moment.

You wanna break out but you're loosing motive force and consciousness by the second, how horrible is that?

You know...... just your friendly reminder from George R.R. Martin, to stay afraid ....to stay constantly afraid of one of your favorite characters dyeing.

Oh and I almost forgot... Great! Now we get to loose Tyrion too! Jesus!

I guess the scales were dangerously close to 10% good characters in GoT after Joffrey, had to be careful and make it come back down there.....

    Great...

I've heard that is one of the longest, hardest board games to win - Super Congrats to you!

I love the show. After watching the first episode, I wasn't sold. It wasn't until the "Red Wedding" that I went back to watch the whole first season - that's what hooked me.

I thought last night's episode was one of my favorites. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING!!! I'm still reading the first book so I have no clue what happens next, but I'm curious to see if Arya and Sansa meet up and what Arya does now. Will Baelish want the Hound to stay at the Vale? Will Lord Baelish stay at the Vale? So many questions!!

Can someone tell me why this series is so overrated?

    nah, he deserved to die.

That's what happens when you make a show out of the strongest warrior in Westeros. He could have won and gotten his vengeance, instead he chose to do a little dance around The Mountain

    that was.. ........................................sooooooooooo dumb.

    why?????? did he do that????????????
    underrated you mean...

I'd like to say that it's really worth it's while.

I still prefer the Tudors and I must say that everything HBO is doing now with Game of Thrones is everything they did right with Tudors. ((original story not included, since they didn't have anything to do with it, this applies tenfold to Tudors since the original story for Tudor's is History))

No I mean overrated. It's the most talked about series on the internet along with Breaking Bad right now. I fail to see why. Maybe it's just a case of sheep following the shepherd?

That's just kind of how television is. There's only ever one or two shows worth watching at any given time. So whatever is above average ends up getting inflated publicity.

I think Breaking Bad mostly deserved its hype. GoT has some likable characters and a high budget (i think?), I'd say it's above average as a series

    it's really not.

everyone who has once loved D&D only ever had lord of the rings, through this series they can finally get absolution.

It features dragons for once not just wyverns or one weird-*** talking emotive dragon, it also features power play and the psychiatry we've come to know and love through Dexter.

The tides between the families are more engaging then first glance would allow.

It's a show that has it all - well written, good acting, nice cinematography... basically captures all the senses and doesn't leave the viewer feeling bored. I think Breaking Bad fits this statement, too. If you're into it, you'll connect - if not, well, no worries ;)

My story is similar but then i accidentally watched a pretty in depth interview with grrm and realised what sort of genius / maniac the man is and gave GoT S1 a new chance then i bough all 5 books. The story is insane in the best possible meaning of the word. With that said, Book ASOIAF > HBO dwarf porn.

And when you're done with the books check out westeros forums, asoiaf subreddit et.c You probably missed a lot on the first read, i know i did...

Forgot to metion but I'm scared this might turn into a virus that consumes the entire Uber office, although a redeeming factor is that it only has 8 episodes for the moment : Silicon Valley

I LOVE SiliconValley! Heh, it's been fun to watch. :D It's really over the top, but a really fun parody of the tech world. Plus, I've been a TJ Miller fan for a while so it's fun to see him with steady work ;P I'm excited for the next season.

There's a few folks in the Uber Offices who've read GoT and others who have just watched the show. Those who've read the books aren't really allowed to discuss the story in ear-shot of the rest of us ;)

    in-office rules :D me like!

so happy you know and like Silicon Valley. At very first I thought, uh-oh another "Geek"-wannabe show that's going to make me fuuuuuuuuriiiiioouuuuus, but no. It turns out it's a great follow-up to having read Steve Job's Biography, you can see all the imaginable mistakes a start-up could possibly make. and the characters get under your skin really fast.

    I tried reading the books.

I could tell it was arguably better with more characterization and whatnot, but I have never been so bored reading a book. Couldn't even make it halfway through. I'm glad I watched the show first, because if I had read the books first I probably never would have picked the series up.

I've read some pretty darn dry books, but Game of Thrones(the first book) was just too much.
