Forests: Speculation/Idea Thread

    I would really love trees getting to the point where you would pick your spawn because they are there, like you pick a spawn because mountains are there.

    There are lots of discussions about the environment and its impact on gameplay. Tight now it functions like a bunch of unbreakable walls. This will be expanded.

    I want to see nukes starting wildfires. That would be an amazing thing to see happen. As long as it doesn't kill performance.

    how about PLANTING trees, rather than destroying them? maybe just to block visibility/manouverability?
    make them tougher so they're a real obstacle! also variations would be cool! especially on tropical planets: trees -> woods -> Jungles -> rain forests... differ in size and define if units can pass unhindered? I'd LOVE THAT! maybe big jungles scatter radars, because they're so dense?
    OR:
    random accounts in forests: native/indigenous (bots?) troops attack if you try to burn them/pass through?
    make them more of a liability than just a graphical addition...
    make swamps with difficult terrain for movement! (and add the swamp thing ;)

    as for sand: optional sandworm attacks! if you crowd too many units together you'll startle a sandworm and it will try to hunt you down!!! also here: deep sand, medium sand, sand dunes (block/offer visibility) with graphic distincions!

    just my 2 cents...

    PS: I just realized you didnt even add RIVERS! <- would block/slow down movement?!

    I recon movement and visibility are the best options to play with, in case of terrain...!

    Forests should be traversable by bots but not vehicles without destroying the forest, either by reclaiming or attacking it.

    Imo reclaimable trees is good, and I'd be happy with just energy.

    A tree reclaim energy start was a fantastic early economy boost in spring, and I can see it working well in pa, just set some fabbers on area reclaim to boost your eco...
