PA seems to be much more RAM heavy then Graphics, everything in your specs should cut it except RAM, its kinda a minimum requirement of 8GB lol
Oh, right, the memory. Yeah, 4 GB is at the low end of spectrum, but should still be playable. Uber has recently cut the memory usage quite drastically, but there is also the "How-to: decreasing UI memory usage on Windows / Linux" thread by SXX, which helps a lot.
Here is the DxDiag in case you want to know. I am downloading the beta drivers as i am typing this. Will install, run directly from PA.Exe and see what happens. As i didn't hear back from Uber, i guess they met a dead end, are still investigating (e.g. they sent a request to AMD/ATI whatever it is nowadays for support) or just forgot as they're knee deep in work (which is always a possibility). Anyway, will report back
I will apologize for the mass quote first, but i think this reaches just about everyone i need to reach. I fixed my problem, through a combination of completely non-obvious solutions that would blow anyone's mind if they didn't stumble upon it. Fortunately, this may be a very easy solution path to fix the weirdest of weird problems that seem to have no solution whatsoever. Like mine. Except now, there is one. *beta Drivers. I can't quite detect an effect here. *No steam overlay No effect * Running from the .Exe Cuts it down to about ~5 minutes loading Now sit down, and prepare to be blown away. *running from .Exe as administrator: Cuts it down to 30 seconds to max 1 minute, on Pax Prime 2014. I finished a 60-minute game and other than a few extreme cases causing significant lag (zoomed in to a planet with another planet moving in the background, close by) i managed to have a relatively smooth (still some lag) game. i managed to beat 3 normal AI's on FFA and use an Annihilasor (caused a few seconds lag). Other than that, it was actually playable! So yea, please spread this fix to every corner so that others may try. NOTE: *running as administrator from .Exe: Does not work (~3-4 minutes load time). So yea, now i use beta drivers, run as administrator directly from the .Exe (with minimum background programs) and i can actually play.
