And next up after the break on Strategic Icon Annihilation Pro Cast 3, we see this blob of tank icons decimate the enemy's light raider icons! Or do we....

just because a video camera has a zoom, it doesn't have to be used all the time and a professional cameraman usually knows when it helps an when it hurts.

Take a positive view on it, take the stream quality in terms of zooming and other technical aspects as an indicator if a stream is worth watching or not. If the technical side of the cast lacks in quality it's probably a novice and you can decide early on if you want to continue watching or not. :)

It's the internet, so it's probably not the only stream. ;)

I'm sorry I cannot take this post seriously. I laughed so hard when I read this. I don't know about you but I'm following the progress I this game because I want to play it. Not watch other people play it. Why would you get rid of an option that helps players just so other people don't get a little bit confused when watching someone cast it?

Also, no rotation? Are you serious??

don't try to fix bad casters by limiting the game.

    This.

    A hundred times, this.

Pro casters know how to cast professionally. That means they know when to not zoom in, or spin the camera.

If they don't know, then they're not professional. It's as simple as that. I think xnavigator is confusing rookie casters with good ones.

This issue is easily fixed if there's a button for something like 'slow' zooming. Like say you hold ctrl and scroll, it scrolls at (say) half the normal rate.

And in any case, simply reducing the sensitivity of the scrollwheel in the settings would reduce this problem greatly.

Wow, that image hurt my head. The world and a street view of New York (I am guessing it is NY) all in the same image. Funky, but not very practical. As soon as you move, the level of distortion will really confuse.

I'm guessing that's what a dyson shell looks like.

Also, I'm pretty sure you could fly a few kites with the whoosh in this thread.

if you (almost everyone) agree that spin and zoom are confusing for spectator why just simply don't turn them off for observers ? Players while in game can use them but not casters..

I think this is a diplomatic solution.

what about observers, who aren't casters, and want to zoom in and out?

Right. How is it even possible to be so narrow-minded and short-sighted...

Personally if it is not a live stream I prefer edited replays like so:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9uoO9Z376s
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr8ctUCbyqU

Clear and concise, all the boring stuff edited out, all the highlights captured perfectly without the caster going "oh somethings happening over here but I didn't catch it". The commentary by the player himself going into the thought process behind various actions etc.

    Perfect.

Casters can learn to deal with the camera system.

    Don't limit anything...

It's all up to the quality of the caster. The FAF community has a few really good ones that are good at catching all the important bits and always giving information about the match, the map, the players, relevant strategies, etc.

Sounds like your problem is the observer and not the game itself... learn to be a good observer maybe? There are plenty of baaaaad observers out there especially for Starcraft 2...
