I like the pictures with the uber cannons. The projectile totally looks like some shiny punching glove, about to hit the enemy in the face.

They would... that would require someone computer literate doing it.

Someone in the unit suggestion thread mentioned a teleporter you could pre-build and then launch at the world you wanted to invade, I'm not sure how well that would work balance-wise, but it sounds cool anyway so I did a quick mock up of what it could look like deploying on a planet:
