    Can someone who's experiencing this issue please do the following:
    1. Start the launcher with the command line option --devmode
    2. Make sure it updates the launcher to version 72188
    3. Exit the launcher
    4. REMOVE --devmode and ADD --skip-version-check
    5. Start launcher again and try patching
    6. If it fails, post UberLauncherLog.txt
    I've updated the launcher a little bit to add more logging about this failure, so I can figure out what's causing it.

    To change the launcher command line options, right click the shortcut to the launcher, click Properties, and add the options after UberLauncher.exe in the text box labeled "Target".

    The launcher is crashing when I attempt -devmode

    Where is the log located that I should post for the crash?

    As requested, although the launcher version shows as 72193, not 72188.

    I will do that when I get home from work and upload log files.

    The guy with it crashing the add is --devmode. (2 dashes)

    is there a difference between PA launcher and Uber Launcher, or are they the same thing

    The UberLauncher is just what the executable for the PA Launcher is called. They're the same thing, albeit with a small identity crisis.

    Thank you for your log, @ilikeapplejuice -- I've been able to track down the issue due to it, and I'm working on a fix. It's a race condition where it tries to write to the same file in different threads.

    I'll post here when I've published a fixed version.

    Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying that due to a bug that the patcher has become racist? :p

    Haha, no, a "race condition" is a programmer term for a problem that happens when a problem only manifests if things happen in a specific order, meaning that there's a "race" to get to a certain resource or part of the code.

    Could someone who's experiencing these issues follow my previous instructions again, except make sure that using --devmode updates to version 72211, and let me know if that resolves the issue? That would be most appreciated, as I believe I've fixed the problem.

    Found a simple fix:

    1. Rename your "UberLauncher.exe" to something else;

    2. Rename your "UberLauncher.exe_old" back to UberLauncher.exe;

    3. Run, update and problem solved;

    At least it worked for me!

    I have done what you said and it allowed me to patch and launch the game etc.. So thank you very much for that. But as expected though.. If i remove the skip version command line it starts to try patch the launcher to the old version.. should i allow it? or will future patches install just fine?

    I did as you requested and it worked. The only think that is odd is that it only downloaded 10 of 11 packages. 173mb out of 291. When I put it in devmode it crashed at the end but it had updated to 72211.

    I think there might be a bug with the progress display -- it doesn't finish patching until every piece of work is done, but it's possible there's a small mismatch between progress and what it shows on the screen.

    I've now set the devmode version to be the public version -- within 10-15 minutes, your launcher should stay at version 72211, and this version should have all the fixes.

    Thanks to everyone who helped track down this issue! Let me know if you have any other problems.
