Ok, thanks Scathis. I noticed the effect MOST with Deploy 3, as Deploy 2 didn't seem to generate the same power at similar ranges within the same game. Perhaps another reason to upgrade to level 3. Maybe the effect wasn't as noticable before the dropoff from the minigun was increased with the DLC.

Also, Bro, I understood the point you were trying to make about the accuracy. I wasn't talking about accuracy at all. I can tell when fewer bullets or more bullets are hitting a target, I was talking about raw damage of the individual hits. Scathis cleared this up for me by confirming my suspicion.

Anyway, off topic now I suppose.

In Cod4, Sniper rifles did 70 damage. Stopping power increased damage by 40%, which increased sniper damage to 98. Which, given multipliers, would result in a OHK on most parts of the body (but not all.) The ACOG M40, however, does 75 damage, which pushes damage with stopping power over 100. Players only have 100 health, so ALL hits are OHKs.

Also, Sniper rifles never, under any circumstances, experience damage fall off. The only other weapon class that doesn't have drop off are the Light Machine guns. In MW2, you could silence LMGS and Snipers, and all that did was modify their base damage. It didn't actually cause them to have dropoff.

yah Scathis is amazing. devs are amazing. halo and cod are trash compared to MNC, no joke.

but i could swear that a silenced WA1200 would kill at short to medium range with a torso shot WITH STOPPING POWER on hardcore, but would kill at any range without one. wouldnt that be damage drop off?

I've seen the stats. The silencer doesn't affect the WA2000 any differnt than the other snipers, in that it drops base damage to 50. In hardcore, player health is reduced to 30, so all snipers are OHK unless you have to penetrate surfaces.

Pretty sure the WA was a OHK for torso shots with a silencer and stopping power on core. Pretty high multipliers on that thing.

The WA2000 had a chest multiplier of 1.5, so if you had both a Silencer and Stopping Power (which cancel each other out on sniper rifles in terms of damage reduction) you would have killed to the chest and up.

The benefit of an OHK silenced sniper rifle is enough to justify the learning curve imo.

Didn't read the rest of this. But:

Actually in CoD4, the red dot on the AK-47 decreased damage over range.

That's not different than the Silencer, as it reduces the range that the damage starts dropping off.
