We are trying to stay as far away from turning PA into starcraft as possible. We're reducing individual/small squad unit micro as much as is feasible without more powerful UI overhauls and putting a lot more emphasis on army composition and disposition.
I think that we need to assume that RCBM will not be implemented... But the balance behind it we can assume that will be implemented(not the TA like thing, but the counter specialization thing) For example: w/ a health and damage buff doxes could kill a T-1 tank w/ w/ a range buff, Grenadiers would be able to kite T-1 tanks!
We don't like to think in terms of "counters". A counter implies that it is a complete answer to a unit or composition. We like to think in terms of "specialists" that excel at certain tasks and are woefully ill equipped to fight in others. These are partial answers that don't really act like counters in the traditional sense.
Indeed. It's not like unit A completely counters unit B in our mod, it's rather that unit B is weak against a certain type of unit and unit A just happens to be that kind of unit. Example: Vanguards are weak vs heavy hitters and both Levellers and Gil-E are heavy hitters and thus good against them, but they aren't a complete counter. Both will fall against a Vanguard of they are are not used correctly and/or if Vanguards are.
well, the terms counter is a bit wrong, but if you see, the buff to the Grenadiers that i suggest would make it a skirmisher
well w/ more range, a bit of micro(or the "unit skirmisher") and lots, lots of space to reatreat, they will be freaking annoying!
Weren't the grenadier bots supposed to be the counter to walls because they shoot over them? They don't counter walls themselves, just how they work.
Not really, if the point was that the weapon that shoots over walls they don't need to out range them necessarily, I mean, they already have almost double the range of Dox currently and have comparable range to the laser turrets within 30%. At this point I don' think the issue lies with the Grenadiers weapon, but rather the rest of it's stats and the Defense's Weapon stats. Mike
in reallity Grenadiers have a good balance... so they don't need to be the focus of a balance Re-Work
I don't know, they pretty much also suck against tanks. I also find them way better as they are in RCBM. Greetings
Btw, I think if Uber just replaced vanilla with RCBM, 30% of players would be very happy instantly, 50% of players would be very impressed and happy after trying it out, 15-20% of players wouldn't know whether they like it or not, and 0-5% of players would maybe even dislike it. (but just because they dislike change in general) So all in all, it would be a very good decision to do so.
Yep, it would be, and I hope Uber has a change in heard about balance. RCBM is just more fun, besides the Holkins, **** the holkins XD
Unless we can convince Scathis that the gameplay offered by RCBM and Statera is far from boring and is superior to vanilla in every way integration is unlikely.
