Do we have any idea how interplanetary transport works?

It's PC Gamer's interpretation of the images uber released. Why are you thinking about so many wild negatives about how the game could be screwed up by trivial design mistakes when the game hasn't been bugtested let alone playtested and balanced? Just relax and wait for information regarding how distances and transporting between multiple planets will work.

    I'm sorry but I don't know what a KEW is :? :p :)

Kinetic Energy Weapon. Basically using an asteroid as a weapon makes it a KEW.

Well I am a little worried. We are at alpha now and we still have no idea how the system will work. Interplanetary transport is a pretty big deal in a game that features multiple planets. Screwing it up would not be a "trivial" mistake, it would affect the metagame tremendously.

I'm not trying to doomsay here, but Uber's repeat emphasis on "no space battles" and the fact that we don't know anything about interplanetary transport is enough to make me anxious to find out how this works.

    oh!
But I don't think a lot of players would blow up a carefully made (and expesive) base. :D

Yeah I saw that. He didn't really confirm if it'd be possible to transport an army from one planet to another though (unless I'm just really bad at interpreting that post).

Portals would be nice... (of course for later game and needing tons of energy on both ends and only being able to transport limited amount per energy usage / needing reloading to be able to be used again).

Because they don't know how it will work either.

Seriously, stop all the angst in this thread. The devs have just made the minimal version of the game function (planetary combat with some basic units implemented). Thinking about the additional layers and what will work will come later with the help of the community.

As they've said multiple times, they don't have a huge design document which lays out all their plans. They have some rough ideas on which way they want to go, but the exact design and implementation of it will come later this year, with feedback from us and plenty of testing on what works and what doesn't.

Devs have stated that you will be able to move moons into a different orbit. Could use a whole moon to attack a planet - and also move some asteroids in for backup. - drop a small asteroid on a base - the fire in the units from the moon base with a few nukes or something. just load up your army on to the moon - move the moon and asteroids as your attack platform.

Well, I don't need a detailed blue-print of how it will work, but I'd appreciate a simple confirmation that no, any army you build is not permanently stuck on the planet it's built. I'm sure Uber has thought this far ahead at least.

I'm done worrying about it though, at least until they reveal their intentions.
