Could also be a laser rangefinder @rcix It took me also several attempts till i managed to handle blender, it takes some time. However I switched to 3dsMax some weeks ago; also was very confusing at the beginning and sometimes still is The transition between the barrels and the gun turret is somehow abrupt. Perhaps some transition parts might help. Such as these (marked blue):
I'll post in my contribution i actually made a while ago. I even emailed these into Steve Thompson in the early days after the project achieved funding... didn't get a reply back though
I usually charge $10 a piece for works of fart like this but take this as a gift, PM me for more. Pike
My idea for a Land Based Anti-Sub Weapon, based on the Hedgehog. The premise is that Subs are Glass cannons, they Hit hard but can't take any hits. So the HedgeHog fies off a number of small contact bombs in a Pattern(either semi-random or in a set pattern) via a high arc torjectory. Mike
Nice. I've been itching for a land-based sub-attack unit in FA! Once you get kicked out of the water torp-bombers are the only way to try and get back in.
Back Again, started this like, ages ago almost right after the Rapier, but I've finally finished off the Cougar AA Tank; Not too much special going on here, it's a Tank, with some good Dakka for taking out planes, what more could you want? Also because I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I've updated(and will keep updating) the first post of this thread with a list and links of all the models I've created. Mike
That's brilliant. Not just the unit (which is awesome), but also how to deal with subs. I imagine a whole range of units could use this method for anti-sub weapons.
Pretty much, the bombs can even do the same damage across all platforms and they could be balanced via the number of bombs launched and the pattern. Mike
Back to the grind stone maybe? Wanted to do another Structure, so I choose the UEF Hellstorm Rapid Fire Howitzer; The Hellstorm has a High Energy Requirement for power it's Cooling and Fabrication systems in order to maintain it's high rate of fire. Not sure how I feel about this one yet, the square barrels don't mesh as well here as I had hoped, might do something in more of a revolver style.... Mike
For the rapid fire howitzer maybe something more like a top fed auto cannon loading system as opposed to a rotary system? You could make similar it to a rapid fire mini bertha but keep the same rotating base you've modeled. It would be very cool to have a vertical or horizontal magazine that could visually be depleted. If you went more with a circular barrel rotary system the triangular look of the cobra gunship's barrels always looked cool to me I also always liked how the shell casings flew out of the Vulcan in TA and the various mini guns in Supcom adds some fearsome-ness to the firepower
