I own it on my iPod. That's all that matters! and it's great. (I didn't actually know iTunes sold PC versions of games)
Graphics are the easiest way to show the advantage the PC has. I mean yeah we can say that the PC allows for more destruction, more interaction, better controls, more advanced AI, more AI, and a host of other advantages. However we really can't compare them side by side, as all multiplats don't have features like this because they wouldn't run right on consoles. Hell sometimes in RTS games I still get lag with an i5 at 4.5ghz, that amount of AI wouldn't run on a console so they simply don't make games on consoles with that much AI. So in order for us to show comparisons like that we have to compare different games. With graphics though we can show the same game with better graphics on the PC, it is the easiest way to make an argument about console vs PC, and there really is no debating it. Now at the same time while graphics aren't that important, when you have a low FOV that affects both graphics and gameplay. When you have really low res blurry textures that makes the game unpleasing to look at which can detract from the game. And in general it is harder to make as immersive environments with less detail. So while graphics don't matter as much as gameplay, when you have as bad of graphics as the current consoles it can hold the games back. http://atomix.imgur.com/pcs_superiority (Scroll down through this gallery) PC can do everything a console can do for cheaper. ( See Build a Gaming PC for $500 - July 2012 + http://www.logicalincrements.com/ + References ) It can play every genre, including fighting games just as good if not better then the consoles (joystick/controller hookups). You can even play games with a Wiimote or Kinect. It has more exclusives then all the other systems combined, and a backlog several thousand times larger then all the other consoles combined. You can do whatever you want; hook it up to your TV and LAN with some bros, hook it up to a monitor, set up several screens so you have full depth vision, the framerate is not caped at 30fps ( http://www.boallen.com/fps-compare.html ) unlike most games on consoles, 3d, blah blah blah technology you couldn't even really imagine with a console. Like imagine playing BF3 with full surround screen monitors, being able to see things out of the corner of your eye, rather then just seeing things in front of you, it's amazing. Meanwhile even in 20 years I can boot up Deus Ex and enjoy it, or play some AoE2, or Witcher 2, or whatever. I may need to boot up some variation of Windows to do it, but I can. I'm not a PC primary person, I went all consoles this gen, but anybody who can't see why the PC is just leagues ahead of everything else is trying to troll. It just is. Even in terms of controls its better, you can hook up a 360 controller to a PC, hook it up to your TV, and play PC games on the screen/couch while using a controller. Like, I like consoles and all, but they only have one thing the PC doesn't nowadays, and thats exclusives, PCs are now super cheap, and can be built for under $400, and will get even cheaper over the next few years, and just yeah. http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/884/884757p1.html http://www.devicemag.com/2011/02/03/ste ... s-in-2010/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/11/25/c...g ... -consoles/ http://www.next-gen.biz/news/study-clai ... et-largest http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/ ... on-in-2010 http://www.next-gen.biz/news/npd-four-p ... -to-piracy http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8354166.stm http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/...s ... -analysts/ http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/...s ... -analysts/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/19/pc-ma ... n-q1-2012/ http://www.shacknews.com/article/72754/ ... ays-report http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/01/06/s...a ... -accounts/ http://www.techspot.com/news/46022-pc-g ... -2014.html http://www.guru3d.com/news/pc-gaming-on-the-rise/ http://worthplaying.com/article/2012/5/3/news/85987/ http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011- ... everywhere http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03 ... nue-up-20/ http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/04/15/conso ... -say-dice/
Not sure if anyone's brought this up yet, but with emulators you can play games from different platforms. (I've used a Wii / GameCube and game-boy one.)
I use(d) a NES one for a long time, there are quite a few games I still love Maniac Mansion (best game ever) Mike Tysons Punch out (a classic!) Blades of steel Tecmo super bowl (Bo Jackson OP!) Super Dodgeball
Because people feel comfortable with it, I love both consoles and pc (but i can't afford a console) I play only on pc because it has a lot more comfortable access to the internet which has better access to the communities and games , I can modify performance and i can get games by trading SMNC stuff, SMNC saved me on that and that is one more reason why i love it. I have the very first xbox and halo 1 and 2, but i cant play it anymore because there are no xbox controllers, I bought one from one guy who is knows how to find stuff for 35 euro which broke the same day i bought it.... so yeah soon 360 wont even exist and if something small like this brakes you are screwed.
I plugged my laptop into a TV and played SMNC with a controller on a 42" screen. Far better experience than any legitimate console game I've played in a LOOONG time. Hell, I miss my Xbox 1 though. Xbox LIVE then seemed so fresh and exciting, cos I was a kid and had games like Mechassault and Halo 2 and didn't have a PC that could even run Runescape; now it's just like "yeah, I could be doing all this on this PC I have now. For free." Xbox 1 also had Jet Set Radio Future. So if we're comparing PCs to past consoles then I'd put that as a serious contender. Got some pretty unique stuff on consoles; now it's just substandard clones of substandard games.
It's just as easy to get a legal copy of a game for an emulator as it is for it's respective console (because it's the exact same thing).
