I believe PC games cost less and also some [like planetside 2] are free to play? Modding to keep you playing a great game for longer? More peripherals and a PC is not just for gaming, its a multi purpose platform. Means you can find a job with a PC, whereas a console is generally not used for such things. Emulators FOR console games. Not sure how much a pc game costs compared to a console game however though I have feeling its around £10 to £20 pounds cheaper.
You can get indie games without the hassle of Microsoft Points, which are cleverly designed to not be purchased in any quantity remotely similar to what items are sold in.
Actually you can buy Microsoft Points in increments of 200 which is a little under $3. You can also just use cash (aka credit/debit card) on most purchases. Like the Games on Demand section can only be bought with cash. Also most of the indie games that come from the XBIG marketplace usually don't come to steam or PC until a year or so later.
That's usually a requirement in the contract with Microsoft. I think it's typically about 8 months (running off memory). Microsoft just enjoys screwing devs and customers over that way.
Yes, but consoles don't get HumbleBundles ;3 And real cash is only for Games on Demand, which are still as expensive as boxed copies. Arcade is all MP
The XBox GoD are the same price as if you bought the Steam version. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for example is the same exact price on both. So no. GoD games are not "as expensive as boxed titles." Not to mention Microsoft points are really still around for the Zune Marketplace and with the recent launch of Windows 8 Microsoft is actually in the process of removing MSP currency and switching to irl money. It can be seen happening all over their marketplace. Also you act like Steam doesn't sell digital versions of games but still charge $60 for them.
I don't see anyone bringing that up. Though it appears that you haven't heard of the infamous Steam sales.
It appears you haven't heard of the XBox sales. Which discount the games JUST LIKE STEAM DOES! Holiday sales? XBox has those as well.
I have limited time for gaming, and PC supports most of the games I actually enjoy playing. RTSs? Not on console. Space sims? Not on console. FPSs? With a gamepad??? Plus the large indie game community has some great stuff on PC. And somebody already mentioned that the cost of gaming on PC isn't really that high anyway. But I think the most important thing about PC gaming is that games have a much longer life. The game Descent was released in 1994, and yet there are still multiplayer servers running to this day. Same goes for Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, even Doom. Meanwhile, on console, Halo 2 was released in 2004 and the servers got taken down in 2010, with no option for independent hosting, despite the large number of people playing. I think I know which I'll stick with.
I had xbox LIVE for several years and never saw these sales, let alone on the sheer scale of Steam sales. I also know a lot of Xbox players and none of them go every Christmas "HOLY SH*T LOOK AT THIS AWESOME DEAL I GOT IN A LIVE SALE!!!"
This is just the XBLA Deals of the Week - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Promo ... loftheweek Just because you or your friends didn't know about them doesn't mean they aren't there.
The deals are only for GOLD members there, which is hardly much of a saving considering you still have to pay the subscription.
XBLA deals are yes. Though there are deals for Movies, Music and Full games that all XBox members can take advantage of. Again just because you don't know about it doesn't mean that it's not there. Also paying for gold is well worth it for a working service all under one system. Last I checked servers for anything on PC cost money as well.
I actually don't have a phone capable of that :X Anyway, mobile gaming will never take place of PC gaming. That being said, it has its place.
