Dear Uber (update review)

    You're welcome. Thing is, any time you find yourself at a disadvantage, you run. If you're a Tank and get triple teamed, you turn around, use your jet charge, and get out. If you're a Gunner and deployed and you spot a Sniper, you undeploy, start shooting your mortars as supressive fire, and you run. If you're an Assault and a Tank is using their charge around a corner to set you on fire, you turn around, use your own charge to get away, and run. If you're a Support and a Gunner catches you when you start hacking a firebase you just dropped, you stop hacking, drop an air strike to deter them, and you run. If you're a Sniper and an Assassin managed to get past your traps, and your grapple is on cooldown, you get out your SMG and you run.

    See the pattern? It's better to run and live than to die in a bad situation. Why? Getting killed does 2 things. 1, it gives whoever killed you and assisted in killing you money, which they can use to upgrade themselves or their defenses. 2, it puts you completely out of commission and you are unable to do anything at all until you respawn. There are situations for all classes that put them at a major disadvantage, and sticking around is suicide.

    By the way, as for "Assassins have no such defensive abilities", I should introduce you to those bright little numbers right above your money reserve. They're called skills, and each one gives you something no other class can do just like you. That sprint allows you to quickly run when things go bad. The cloak can let you get through areas undetected when you'd otherwise be seen and die. The Smoke Bomb does a temporary blinding effect to those around you and lets you jump really high. Yes this paragraph is trolling, but it's also something you seem to be overlooking in your arguements.

    Alright i work third shift so i'm asleep while you all are posting, so i'll adress a few things i saw.

    First off, shammas, Me and bolt are exceptional assassin players, were at least, can't play a useless class, i know you wouldn't be dieing to any lunge facegrabs cause you're the MNC god, but most other people would, and it took skill to pull it off.

    K rool, played with you recently, good stuff, but when i can only grapple from one side, and my grapple is my main killing move, and you can grapple someone from anywhere and get a kill, it's pretty bad.

    I did NOT abuse assassin to get to 99, it took me a long time cause i learned a pretty legit way to play her, i built up my skill and took time to develop my own strategies, now i have nothing to show for it.

    Dear Uber:

    Thank you for this new patch.

    Thank you for removing any incentive to play the Assassin. I could have sat around and done nothing for free, but I paid you fifteen bucks for the privelege of doing it in your game.

    Thank you for adjusting the Hurt/Heal gun. Since the patch, it seems I cannot lock on most of the time. Instead of being frustrated with the times it didn't lock on before, I now appreciate the one time in ten it actually works, and the one time in fifty it actually locks on for more than a second on what I'm aiming at.

    Thank you for the improved strength I'm now getting from all the trigger mashing I have to do to establish a solid lock. I'm sure the numbness entailed is also a positive effect.

    Thank you for even more apparent lag. I'm pretty sure it's not more, there's just more of it. I get excited at the added challenge of now having to shoot an Assassin four times before life gets taken off. Perhaps that's just a buff for the Assassin, however.

    Oh, and thanks for improved host migration. No, I'm not being sarcastic, that's the one thing that doesn't seem to be utter crap right now.

    I was all excited to try a gold rate of fire h/h gun but I had the same problems.

    As far as I can tell, it's still locking on and healing, the visual cue just isn't there. If you can hear the healing/hurting happening, it's still working. Does get annoying though when you're trying to keep a group of bots or players overhealed and can't tell which one is actually being targeted.

    Ya I'm trying my best to make valid logical thought out posts about why exactly this change is such a detriment to the class overall, unfortunately some people around here are just very immature or just too dense to understand logic.

    I think a lot of it just stems from bad players having a deep hatred for a class they have no idea how to counter.

    In case anyone missed my point, The assassin is now fairly useless while playing with a team vs people who know how to play and counter an assassin.
    You are more of a kredit to team picking anything else.


    The assassin still plays the same late game, If I wanted I could still go into a pub, choose assassin and rickroll your face off the same as always after upgrading katana
    The problem now is that in a TEAM setting, the assassin has to play 90% of most matches being next to useless. You are better off just picking a different much more powerful class.

    The lunge grapple wont even kill another assassin, words can not describe how little sense this makes.

    So let me get this straight.. The assassain goes from being way over powered and having the ability to kill anything anywhere, over and over again, to having to actually work for kills, and having to be scared of another classes.

    I see nothing wrong with this. Every class has it's pros and cons. Get over it, adapt, or move on. With some work, skill, and a little bit of luck you'll be alright.

    I get the feeling the differing opinions on the Assassin (and to a lesser extent Support) post-patch are just different playstyles and experiences. It's also only been a day so the "sample size" everyone has is pretty small. As the days and weeks go on and people get a feel for the differences and how to work with them, we'll see if the changes were too drastic.

    Besides, balance is a fickle thing, especially when it comes to deception. I will merely point out Team Fortress 2's Spy class as an example, and how drastic all of his gameplay elements have changes ever since TF2 released in October 2007. It used to be that he had a simple recharging cloak that would drain during use, and a basic disguise kit that would give his character another class model appearance to the opposite team. As players gained experience, the Spy started having a tougher time deceiving opponents and doing well. Later updates gave the disguise kit the ability to change the disguise's perceived held weapon. Eventually he got new ways to cloak such as passive cloak regeneration for one type when standing still, but draining with movement. Another would allow him to feign death with the drawback that uncloaking was rather loud. The most recent update this Spy got allows him to silently kill and disguise as his victim instantly, with the inability to choose when and where to disguise.

    It's just a different verse of the same song. What might be effective today may be ineffective 6 months from now as the general player base gains experience. Also, that red herring is an assassin.

    I bet the uber team is working so hard right now on a new patch because of all this complaining! It's totally working guys!! Keep it coming, and the assassin will DEFINITELY go back to just the way you like it. No need to try to adjust to changes that uber put in place because they ****ing designed the game. Seriously, if you guys were the developers I bet it would be perfect!

    Anybody notice if the katana lunge does a tiny bit less damage? It seems to, I could definitely be wrong though as it is barely noticeable if it was changed at all.

    I don't notice a difference, but if you wanna test it I'd be up for a private match.

    Just one thing. I was playing a little while ago and the darndest thing happened. I saw a gunner. I dagger lunged him, and quickly backstabbed him. Black health bar. Lunged again. Still alive. Wtf. Lunged again. STILL. ALIVE. Is this a joke? He then proceeded to find a support to heal him and then killed me. It should not take 3 lunges and a backstab to kill a Gunner. EVER.

    Ya, they should have just replaced the dagger with a banana. Same effect.
    Ya if I don't test it with rev or mano sometime soon ill hit you up

    The dagger lunge is actually WEAKER then the melee now it seems, I'll be testing this as well.

    Something Id like to point out after playing a bit more with lots of forum guys(with and against using different classes) , the hit detection makes assaults and gunners way more of a threat then ever before, add the dagger nerf and no wepswap against a good player and it can get nasty

    The improved hit detection for landing grapples is great.
    The improved hit detection on dual miniguns is amazing.

    So I'm not hallucinating? Gunner really are killing me more? Because I thought that was a bit odd. I'm usually able to get away fast enough but they've been murdering me.

    A banana could still trip a tank. Has anyone tried to face slap instead of stab, and test to see if it's any better? I will admit Gunner hit detection is fantastic now.

    If you really want us to take any of you seriously, make your point without being insulting. Yelling louder and spamming a thread is not going to change our minds. We can always adjust things and we have based on feedback. If things have changed that you don't like, try suggesting another option instead of saying the same thing ten different ways.
