They also had a much longer time to hit you as you approached the flag. They have plenty of time to land the two shots needed to kill a light.

Additionally, yes it takes away from their jets/mobility, but snipers primarily sat near the flag or at least a long distance from any target so they dont actually lose anything; they weret going to use their jets anyway.

The games do play differently, but mechanics can be borrowed from Starsiege: Tribes as long as they are adjusted appropriately.
I proposed the charging system in another thread and it was very well received.
I think it is much better than nerfing quick-scoping, and it is very easy to balance as well (just adjust the number that dictates how quickly it charges).
It also introduces the same type of strategy that Starsiege: Tribes had in which you must decide how much power your gun currently has versus how much is needed to kill, and time your shots accordingly.
Plus the new strategy of balancing that with your level of confidence in getting a head-shot. If you think you will get a head-shot you dont have to charge as long to get the damage needed, but if you miss you start charging all over.

It is just a very nice mechanic that works well in practice.

Also, rate-of-fire endorsement causes it to charge more quickly (like an energy pack did) instead of allowing you to fire faster.

well i ran into more people who think tank is OP and that sniper isn't, yet that 1 sniper would keep most of our team in our base while he was still on his side of the map and was getting a decent amount of kills.

why do people think tank is OP? o_O

In this game, sniper attracts the people who think they're pro because they can take 5 pot-shots at a slow-moving target and land a headshot, while also having the least effect on the games outcome. Half of any good FPS is proper positioning, movement and prediction, which most people don't have at the moment.

Tank is perfectly fine, as are the other classes in general.

Sniper is awesome fun to play as though; I think it's the little *DING* you get when landing headshots... >:]

sniper would be fun to me, if i didn't have the stupid *** habit of opening my mouth when going to headshot someone (as in literally opening my mouth) and not being able to stop it -.- guess i will stick to OP tank and assault, and gunner, since no one kills turrets in AUS

So I just got out of a game where a new player was adamant about telling another new player on his team that "the sniper class in this game is horrible pick something else."

Naturally the team ended up having four assassins.
