pretty gfx mean nothing if the gameplay doesnt match up...Crysis 3 had amazing gfx but i had more fun playing FarCry 3 which had worse gfx but the gameplay was much better.

Also note that, AFAIK, DDR4 is only improving the bandwidth and not latency. Nowadays memory latency is the the biggest memory bottleneck - the CPU can do hundreds of operations while waiting for a memory address to be loaded - and the situation is only getting worse as CPUs get faster.

As people have said, memory is the new disk.

BS i have a 27'' inch 1440p monitor and i can say you will notice the difference in resolution. Even when increase the difference i can still see the pixels on moving things on the monitor. Thats why they invented AA to reduce that.

And oculus rift is going to need alot more than 4k because of the huge field of view.

Depends on notice. I use projector TVs and don't see a big deal, literally. Maybe I am retro.

Also, speaking of retro, did you know PCs started gaming? Then consoles came around, but PC had more graphics and memory for games. This lasted UNTIL the late nineties. It wasn't until N64 that console games were at par with computer graphics. I remember a game called "Bug" that was 3d with very primitive control and gameplay but it was just as 3d as early N64.

Anyway, I know that cuz I have bounced back and forth form PC to console over the eras. I am but 22 but I remember NES and up. I happen to be well educated for my age even back then, so I was even familiar with any gaming technology since the late 70s. That might be why I find AVGN to be so fun.

Back on topic, it took me up until literally a month ago to get HDMI Xbox with LCD tv, and it will probably take me another 2 years to step up to 4k whenever it becomes big.

If i didn't already have 32GB of really fast DDR3, and a brand new motherboard, I'd consider it. ;-)

Actually no. I don't do early adopter any more. Especially not on RAM. I'll wait to spend a few thousand on a 4k capable rig until after others have spent a year or two working out all the kinks. And certainly not til they approve HDMI2.0.

I guess no one told MIT when they created Space Wars on their PDP-1 in 1962.
