Does the water move up when you make it higher in the system editor? Like- if it's at 50 and you put it to 60 would it fill more of the brush?

That would require soooo many different subtractive brushes XD

    Not in a meaningful way.

+ more random water all over the map.

No idea how to do anything with water apart from "start with some water places and build the map around them"

Hm.. Alright, I set up a plan to get Finn's Revenge done with Superouman, but that little lake in the center caused an issue. :(

My plan for many maps was to build it you'd need one island on one of the hemispheres, and then go all out with subtractive brushes to sculpt the landscape.

Perhaps we could start with water and build the land? Would that be feasible?

Well yes. If you can make a random water that looks like you want it. Though you'll be in danger of patches breaking the water distribution. Well you can try to fix it by rolling the dice again.

I'm not sure if metal spots would show up. :/

Oh gosh, then that means we can make completely custom geometry, completely custom maps. All we'd need is to make a map in blender, export it's .papa... And boom! There we go. (As long as you have one huge additive brush)

    This could actually work... Maybe.

Somebody should try. But I suspect that putting many small brushes together is less prone to errors.

Last I tested, builtin mex don't spawn on any brush, but you can get features to do so. Bigger problem is spawn points

Exception: there is an additional operation type BO_Base that I spotted in the binary strings. It makes things that can have mex, but not spawn locations (I might be wrong on the last part) However, you don't get textures on BO_Base, so it's not very practical. I've barely worked with it, so maybe you could put decal layers on top.

That's mostly a question of: Is it possible to build a transient server mod that modifies the server scripts in a way that makes them just spawn the commanders in at fixed positions?

Transient could be tricky. If there is no base material, even spawn-anywhere doesn't work, though I've not investigated whether it's a server or client hangup.

Does this mean we have reverse engineered the coordinates for the map?

And the next step is to hack it so we can build your planets tile-by-tile? planet-of-hex.jpg

Sadly, no. Basically we place down walls, and replace that with brushes through generation. =P

    awwwww :(

So many years of table top, hexes still give me semi.

If only the hex tiles were tiny enough for us to start elevation mapping them manually.
We could have ramps and chokes.
