This is the kind of stuff you program into the game when you have an issue of brain-clog for a few minutes. Effectively costing you nothing for something a number of people want.

I can see how both it adds nothing (to the game) and adds something useful (for the players). Ultimately, especially because it takes no useful time to add, I can see why it'd be included. I wish more games would have a little clock like that.

The current time is something, as far as I'm concerned, that should always be visible on the screen somewhere.

Like Neutrino is the only one working on the project.

So you made a clock, now what?

You have to test it, make sure it fits with the UI, if the UI changes mid development you have to go back to it and move it, it might appear in front of something important etc.

Its never just a single line of code.

I'll assume you're either joking or not a programmer.

And I'll assume you're not a webdeveloper. If the clock doesn't borrow its styling from the main UI then you are doing something wrong. The worst that could happen is that you'd need to move it to another corner of the screen, which actually is one line of code.

Also, building "nonsensical" things for your progam is actually good for the development team. It helps them focus, keeps them involved, and sometimes really good ideas come from it. And you can even put this stuff in.

And all the time spent on it comes from time they wouldn't have done much productive anyway.

(Unless the entire team is so hyper-involved and focussed they never take breaks like that. In that case, skip the clock because this game is going to be awesome. But I've yet to meet a team like that.)

Neutrino is also a manager, if he gets brain clog then he can go manage (sounds horribly simplistic by there really is always something to manage).

It's not just styling, its also positioning and choosing when to display.

I wasn't suggesting Neutrino do it personally...

And really, you've been claiming all this time "it's so easy", "it takes no time at all", and now suddenly you're complaining "but it takes so much work"?

Sarcasm doesn't fare well in a forum post.

I have a sense of humor, but it doesn't work if you post a single, short sentence with no hints towards any kind of humor being used. Especially after dealing with complete morons on another forum all night.

That's why "you are joking" was one of the things I assumed. So yeah.

elexis, please stick to a single narative:

    Either a clock is so trivial to implement or mod in that it would require practically no development time;

or a clock is so hard to implement or mod in that the developers can't possibly do it.

    So which one is it?

Also, a clock is infinitely more useful to the player on the spur of the moment than all those things you mentioned.

I want a to be able to bind the time check to a button. The time will come in the voice of your favourite SMNC character.
    Doesn't use any UI space.
Adds more awesome to the game.

Trivial to implement, followed by not-so-trivial ownership of it, and changing it down the line.

ps: it is binded to alt-tab

How is moving a clock because a change is required in the user interface any different from moving any of the other sh!t that belongs in one? I swear, this is grasping at straws.

Ownership by who? This desn't make sense.

You still don't get it, do you.

This is clearly the most important issue on the forum. Everyone drop everything. THIS NEEDS TO BE SOLVED TODAY.

What debate? Your only points are "why not", "it helps lazy people" and "it helps people with game addiction who shouldn't play it in the first place".
