Wow, am a bit shocked but not really surprised... but still sad... considering that CT and you guys created my most beloved games... I literally played thousands of hours... TA/DS/SC and hopefully soon PA. :)

I actually didnt read this thread or any news and then I saw this update:

    o_O

Like a year ago, Chris Taylor gave an interview at the "official" start of FAF.
He said that KS can be awesome, but if you fail, you are done for.
I guess that's what will happen to GPG o_O

    Ok,

wow this is kinda sad... again I did not like the latest GPG direction... but this is too bad.
CT and GPG gave me some of the best games I have ever played.
I want them to continue and one day, hopefully soon, make games again I would love and embrace again... I did pledge... I hope you too guys.

1$ out of sheer support for GPG as a company. Wildman itself however does not appeal to me at all.

I do hope what Chris pointed out doesn't happen.

I also fully and completely blame the FA community over the events of SupCom2, and that's all I'll say on the matter.

You hear many people claiming that SupCom2 is where GPG and CT refocused their outlook on video games, going from the full out 10-20 mil dollar high end gamer to the 2 mil dollar casual RTS player, but I've never seen or heard any opinion from neutrino about SupCom2 (He usually just doesn't mention it). I assume that UberEnt agree's with the community?

I understand the direction-- Forged Alliance was released at the beginning of the hardest time for PC games (piracy, consoles and casual games etc), and so a lot of money couldnt be invested in these type of ideas anymore.

I also think that GPG jumped onto the kickstarter train too late into the game with a not-so-strong idea, and this could contribute to their closure. If the idea would have been a massive scale RTS like PA but with star citizen type funding-- they would have had a better chance of success (IMO). But the idea for wildman was too uninteresting, too rushed and not planned/developed enough in advance. GPG, to me, is basically saying just give us money and we'll make a game.

These numbers have been mentioned in interviews with CT time and time again, so I've also remembered them along the same lines. SupCom was a 10 million dollar game, and SupCom2 was a 2 million dollar game. So thats been my strongest defense for SupCom2: it was made with 1/5th of the money, what did you expect? They should have made a lot more money off of us from SupCom.

Definitely sad to hear. Wildman didn't really grab my interest but I had hoped it would provide the funds to make something awesome later on.

Looks like Sorian made the right decision though...

GPG is a company full of very talented people that made SupCom, FA etc, Is there a possibility of hiring someone by Uber for PA?

Most of Uber's Core staff originated from GPG.

Mavor, Sorian, flowfield guy(sorry), Scathis and prolly some more I've forgotten.

I don't think it has much to do with the money. As Neutrino said, TA cost about 1 million dollar. And if 2 million is not enough then PA must fail. And I don't think this will gonna happen.

I think that square enix has interfered too much in the development process. But certainly we didn't know what's happened.

    @rcix:
Why do you blame them? SupCom2 was just a bad game from their point of view at least. Should they have played out just to support GPG?

I've known about the budgets for the games, but the number of employees was not within my knowledge.
But I would not think that SupCom2 was bad because of its lower price. PA will be made with around 2 million dollars, too. It's more the question what you spent that money on.

I'm really, genuinely sad about the GPG news. Obviously I don't know him personally, but Chris Taylor has always come across to me as a visionary with grand ideas, an idealist who was lucky and determined enough to make his visions happen.

I very much doubt he was happy about what he had to do to get SupCom2 made, and I also doubt the gameplay changes were what he really wanted to do. It's tragic that the changing PC games market (read: piracy), and a new type of fickle, entitled gamers contributed so much towards forcing him into becoming a bean counter rather than the mad genius he has shown he can be.

    A sad day indeed. :(

EDIT: Just watched the video update here, absolutely heartbreaking. :(
