Not that I care about this sort of triviality, having already proven myself the indisputable champion of lightning quick AI dispatch, *ahem*...

...but the answer to that question definitely has a lot to do with planet size. The AI has no idea what a turtle is at the moment, and will gladly fling its units into certain, fruitless death over and over again. But, it definitely knows how to pour on early pressure when you're in short walking distance. If you have time to get stable defenses up, however, it's more or less helpless. Make it to orbital, for example, and that's game.

Before really getting into competitive AI comm rushing (which I've been involved in since the very beginning, several hours ago), I would play small-planet games against a team of AI, to try to get used to early pressure. The thing about FFA with the AI is that at random, they could simply all start eating each other, leaving you with a relatively easy job. Unfortunately, at present, when putting multiple AI on the same team, they always spawn together and the comms seldom stray far from one another, so there's little variety in that sense. However, it *does* give them a significant advantage in build power, and they make good use of it early on. Later game, it's still too... under-educated... to make quality plays. You could just increase the eco multiplier by small increments, I guess, but it's so much cooler to say you beat down a team of 5 AI. ...if saying such a thing could ever truly be "cool"... but I digress.

It's a ferocious challenge at first, but the thing is, if you survive the first 15 minutes or so against a swarm of angry AI, you've basically won - the rest is just grind. That's why I turned to more hardcore game types, like no-build comm rushing - found out I really had a talent and a passion for it, and, well... as they say, the rest is history.

    AI: 5, teamed
    Eco: standard

    Any takers? ;)

I was thinking of an 1 vs all AI game on a fixed planet indeed ;)
The fact that commanders spawn together kind of protects the AI from commander rushes, so it isnt bad I think.

Well, since my expertise really lies in blind comm rushes and not so much on the economic and military management side of things, I have to up my proverbial ante: if I can do the Moon Massacre AI Challenge, you can too! 5 AI is too few. So...

    Type: Moon/Lunar
    Size: 400
    AI: 7, teamed
    Eco: standard

Just *try* to not play like a shameless turtle, I dare you. :D

Actually for a real comparable challeng you would need to describe a full planet.
That way even the spawns should always be the same.

I'm trying to go to sleep, man!!! I'm exhausted after all of today's record-setting.

    ...aaaahhhhhh yeeeeeahhhhh.

    Type: Moon/Lunar
    Seed: 78462
    Radius: 400
    Height Range: 57
    Biome Scale: 50
    Water: 0
    Temp.: 0
    Name: Rock Lobster
    AI: 7, teamed
    Eco: standard

To be sure, I only tested this with 5 and made it out alive, but I'm sure more is doable.

Yeah, the closer you spawn the faster the time.
4:34 I guess that puts me in 3rd for now...

This is kind sad. AI doesn't stand a chance it just gets crushed. Kinda ruins the struggle against the AI.

It's good though. Uber will be able to learn from this thread.

If the AI would use the Uber cannon it would be more even. :p
And if the AIs bots would take out your fabbers... It would probably be a draw.

The AI doesn't defend well against comrushes.. you don't actually need any assisting units. Wouldn't work well against a person.

I think there should be two categories for this challenge - using commander, and factory units only. Because the timing really is how quickly does it take you to come into range of the enemy commander and use uber cannons against him.

After this terrific display of mastery of the most epic degree, I capitulate, utterly and completely, and offer my title and the right to that title, from this day forward until the end of time immemorial, on behalf of all who bear my surname and blood.

This is something for modders, some sort of timed battle vs AI.

And maybe also a survival mod where waves of AI commanders spawn and you just have to tooth and nail it as long as you can.

I want to know how many tries it will take before boylobster spawns within visual range of the AI's commander.

    • Built bot factory
    • Moved commander to nearest metal cluster
    • Spammed fabbers
Luckily the ai was there. Even luckier this was my first attempt.

Yes comm rush shouldn't count as it is much akin to playing a naval game or the orbital level. The ai just isn't prepared for such actions. Therefore a comm rush win is 100% Velveeta!!! Sorry boy lobster you're more like the supposed gangsters of today who are to scared to take an *** whooping and just use guns because that some how makes you a man. No sir men stand toe to toe and bare knuckle brawl. Drive bys are for scared little ***** boys.

Nope seems you're more on your mark McGuire Barry bonds, or lance Armstrong.....

I'll be entering the fray Monday when I get home.
