Cybrannosaurs aside, a T-rex like body plan seems like it could be a quite efficient design for an artillery mech if you turn the entire torso and tail into a giant cannon. It would run or leap into position and then brace itself on its 'tail'. Like an upscaled version of the 'walking mortar' someone suggested in another thread.

    I did read it actually

There are some pretty cool ideas that have been put forward

The fact that everything from dino-bots to panda-bots has been posted doesn't change the fact I don't want a 'cat' unit however, stop being so judging OrangeKnight

The Gunsniper I mention earlier has a Sniper Cannon built into it's tail.

I think a cat like bot is kinda silly......I also think a cybrasaurous rex is also silly.

But a quadruped with heavy guns is cool in my books.

So you're thinking more long the lines of my Rapier Bot then?

Yes, if you just want a bot that looks like a cat. But if you look for a perfect land scout a cat-shaped design - light-weight, agile, height speed, slim profile... - actually makes a lot of sense.

    • Legs are more versatile than tracks and can climb almost any hill.
    • A tail can help the unit to turn faster and stabilizes the whole body at high speeds.
    • A slim body with powerful legs allows the unit to be more maneuverable while cutting back on armor - perfect for a scout.
    • The body shape is ideal to hug cover and blend into the background.

    Yeah.

But without things like actual cloaking technology, I doubt old fashioned camo really works any more, especially when we all have giant lasers.

But while legs might be faster then tracks, they are not faster then the wheel.....or a rocket ship. :p

Having wheels on all terrain scout would be kinda bad, wheels cant move in nearly as many diffferent terrain layouts as legs.

You do know they are working on leg equipped vehicles and robots irl for military use, right?

    Heres some examples:

(God some of those things are so damn spooky)

But you don't often have to scale cliff with scouts.

and that's ignoring that we should have both!

OR how about a wheeled robot with legs? Kinda like a half track, pulling wheely's when speed is needed, but then back on their front legs when the terrain calls for it?

I personally would hate a cat unit, wouldn't mind a quadruped though. :D
But if Uber decided to make one, I trust that they would make it awesome

I doubt if it will fit in with all the other units.
There has to be some sort of uniformity in design/philosophy across all the units.

I believe that if we want to have various skeletons for the commanders, we need to think how to make the commanders more visually distinguished from other units.

That's called the Aesthetic, you can apply that even to a Cat design.

    I should know.

    Cat-bots are actually pretty feasible.

And yes, I love the Zoid-like feline design of the Liger.
Currently, the Humanoid commanders shown look awesome, and if we have any sort of non-scout feline-bot, I would suggest looking to the Zoids for inspiration.

Coming from an artistic standpoint, they have strong torso, wide-set shoulders and hips, and powerful necks. A design like this could easily be expanded into a commander unit.
