While I wouldn't mind having it, being able to give orders while paused isn't strictly necessary. Adjusting the game speed all the way down gives much the same effect.

(Add me to the list of people who don't care about multiplayer at all. I don't have the time to play games intensively anymore and I'm hoping that Uber will lavish just as much attention on single player play as they will on multiplayer play.)

I think it could be added easily at this stage and it would be a feature that people could use if they wanted to. Most servers would probably have it turned off obviously but its their choice. I never felt TA or SupCom to be one of those games where you pause it to give orders so if they follow the same general pacing but leave it as an option it will only be used by people who want to, and they deserve to have fun too.

I think this is a good feature for one reason:

It is easy to program, it is against a computer opponent who can't get butthurt and in fact can do it himself anyway, and anyone can take it or leave it by choice without affecting anyone else.

Easy feature to bring in casual gamers who don't want to tryhardy.

    I disagree.
I proposed a poll on the issue to see what community consensus is!

I propose that all new topics start with a poll, because ALL worthwhile topics need a poll

There's no reason not to implement this (is there?), and it was a very handy tool in all Supreme Commanders, so yes, do it.

Since this is possible in Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander, Forged Alliance and Supreme Commander 2, I would guess it will be possible in Planetary Annihilation as well. Uhm, unless I remember it wrong.. single player sessions were rare for me ;).

If time is quantum then real time doesn't actually exist anyway.

IIRC TA had a weird restriction where the camera stopped moving properly (no side panning but you could move via the minimap). You could issue all the commands you want but they wouldn't all appear on the UI overlay properly.

    Do want!

It is good if you want to play yourself.

It is good if you want to maximize the effieciency of your micro.

It is good if you want to set something up.

It is a good way to see what is possible given unlimited APM.

But do disable it by default for multiplayer. It's hard to resist giving orders and when the opponent is afk.
Neither panning or changing camera view should be allowed in multiplayer.

I think it's fun to see what can be accomplished with infinite APM.

You never played Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander?
