Bunny Hopping is the Support's ONLY defensive movement?

Their Firebase is the strongest defensive thing in the game. Plus, all a Support has to do while backpedaling is to throw a couple of their air-strikes out to prevent people from coming after them.

There's nothing wrong with it. It's not like they're harder to kill. You should really work on your aim if you can't hit them, especially if they do it constantly, it's so predictable.

Some classes should lose accuracy doing this though that's not universal for all classes. A better fix would be to make the movement speed much less if it isn't already.

I can't count the number of times I've thrown an airstrike and had a gunner/assault/what-have-you shoot and kill me just out of range of the airstrike without missing a beat. The airstrike isn't an opaque wall of defense or anything. It only scares away people who are not used to its area of effect.

The firebase is NOT a type of defensive movement. It's a defensive emplacement. Emplacement != Movement. Therefore, lacking jets, dash, etc., bunny-hopping IS a Support's only defensive movement.

Additionally, when I play support I'm rarely standing by my firebase. I figure I can actually help more by over-healing turrets, teammates, bots and supporting with airstrikes. I usually put my firebase in the middle someplace where it can do some damage and help our forward push. I keep an eye on the area from a distance and run to it when needed.

Not to mention that even if I'm standing next to my firebase it's probably still shooting at that bot while I'm getting murdered...so yeah...bunny-hopping for supports is pretty much a must, even when standing next to the firebase. Especially since standing around you're just asking to be stabbed in the back by some assassin who doesn't mind trading death for death and who has a decent chance of getting away in any case. I escape about half the time after killing a support next to their firebase. It all depends on whether or not I get that smoke bomb off in time or not and what/who else is around. The change in cloaking will affect that...but then I'll just have to adapt...

Anyway...I find bunny-hopping seriously annoying and I agree it looks silly as hell but it's necessary in the game as it is now.

That's just ridiculous, us Supports don't actually help the team. We just farm kills by hopping around with our hurt gun and pick on lone Assaults.

In ways it does make it sometimes harder to kill them because it does indeed mess with hit registration, because there is always a little lag in games, even if unnoticed on your part. So you would hit him on your screen, but miss him on his screen, thus the bullet hit dealing not damage, as apposed to just back pedaling or another form of movement.

The hopping about always bothered me because it looks kind of silly, but just yesterday I saw the worst case of it. I was sniper and basically locking down the upper layer of lazerazor when the opposing sniper who'd I headshot about 6 times got it in his head to start jumping about while trying to counter-snipe me. At first i just giggled and continued shooting, noting when he'd land and aiming for his head... but.... it wasn't working! Due to the lag and whatnot I could barely register a hit on the little jerk at all, let-alone a headshot. He wasn't having much luck hitting me either as I zig-zagged his shots easily enough but it was frustrating to be put into stalemate by such a ludicrous and easy technique.

The main issue I have with it is that the counter, waiting for them to land and then getting them, is almost impossibly unreliable due to the lag.

I like the snipers who are headshotting me by bunny hopping above glass barriers.

I think its fine but also HATE getting killed by a bunny hopping support with his healhurt gun. Its should break the beam when you jump.

I think healhurt gun needs a total rework anyways cause its lame and one trigger pull is all thats needed but thats for a different thread.

    Sadly this is so true....

If you have jump jets you can jump to places an assassin can't reach without using the smoke bomb. Assassins can't grab you if there is a large height difference between the two of you.

But as an assassin you can learn to grab them as soon as they come down from the jump. Honestly no matter how hard people try they cannot physically jump the entire match nonstop (unless they have the a button on auto turbo and that would be terrible for skillpicking!).

The only time I hop like mad is when I need to slam an assassin and the skill is still charging.

So put a cooldown on jump.

Truely they should. Have you ever jumped while holding a rifle and wearing a loaded back pack, sure you can do it. And if you are in great shape you can do it for longer. But you aren't going to be doing it for 15 minutes while trying to shoot things and hack into a turret. Either a cool down, or hoping should break the contact of the heal/hurt gun.

Or just go back to my bunny ear idea, make them grow out of someone head so they are a bigger target and easier to kill.

Still don't get why people are so bothered over Mario jumping a lot.

I've played games where they tried to put in anti-jumping features like a stamina bar or putting a lengthy cooldown on jumping or the like, but they always feel rather clunky or arbitrary.

Perhaps a better system would be to add a damage multiplier against people who are jumping/aerial or if you get hit while in the air you get knocked down? :3

It would inadvertently cause the Assassin's Smoke Bomb jump to become even less useful. Could you imagine all the Assassin threads complaining then?! Better to simply decrease the accuracy of weapons while jumping and in the case of the Support to break the lockon (something that should be adjusted anyway). Also, it would make sense to prevent the Sniper from being able to use their scope when they jump.

EDIT: The Assault should also not be able to 'aim' (left trigger) when jumping with the exception being that they can 'aim' while hovering. In regards to the Gunner, the movement restriction while spooling seems to be enough of a penalty; combined with an accuracy decrease this should be enough of a handicap when jump-jetting. I don't see any issues with the other classes.
