literally the only thing I send through a teleporter (if I'm at t1) is spinners and infernos, I leave some infernos behind to protect the engineers building defenses, your boombots will do nothing

In which case I would just send an ant blob, and kite you forever. Infernos are a good unit, but inferno-spinner is a combination that dies to pretty much everything except pure boom bots. My main point with boom bots is that they are surprisingly good against a lot of T2 unit compositions because they are fast and cheap (unlike infernos). Also, their speed exploits the fact that it's difficult to get radar coverage on a planet you're invading in any game where the obital layer is at least contested. If a player isn't specifically protecting against them (because let's be honest, you'd be insane to attack with inferno-spinner unless you knew that your enemy's army was 100% boom bots and air units) they can just dash out of the fog of war and shut down a teleporter and anything else that looks dangerous before your enemy is aware that they even exist.

well, it is a planet assault after all, infernos and vanguards have so much hp that bolos, dox, defenses, w/e, they're all irrelevant.
spinners and dox are the only combat units I bring - so that's not including combat fabbers and fabbers

They don't have THAT much hp! Dox blobs beat infernos pretty easily if they're properly controlled; likewise ant blobs can just move away from vanguards as they fire, and the vanguards will never get in range for a shot. The point about including infernos and vanguards is that they absorb damage while your own long-range, high dps units start burning through the enemy numbers, not that they win the battle by themselves. I'd be interested to see if they could win by themselves, because I've never tried to invade with just vanguards... but I've played against builds that were 90-100% infernos in the early game, and they lost to my 'default' 80-90% ant-dox builds pretty consistently. Perhaps we should do tests!

    For Science, y'know.

impossible for infernos to lose if they have combat fabber support, you might want to test again now that combat fabbers are dirt cheap
