If you work in any sort of engineering, you'll know that the end user doesn't get to see much as things develop.
    I'm in architectural engineering.

    • Foundation
    • Structure
    • Mechanical systems (ventilation, heating, etc)
    • Specialized equipment (elevators, escalators, etc)
    • Electrical wiring
    • Architectural elements (Walls, doors, windows)
    • Finishing (carpet, walls, counters and paint)
    • Furniture (couch, TV, stove and microwave).
See how much stuff you actually care about?
It's not until the last 2 items.

That's UI, Unit Roster and balance.
I think in some areas, Uber's still like halfway down the list.

Afterall, why pick the color of your stove if you don't even have power for it yet?

Yeh yeh, I understand that a lot of these things are fundamentally important, and improving them is a big deal, I just think Garat got a little over excited, which passed onto us fans, who may have a different thing in mind when we think "big feature build" ;)
I'm still not worried about the games' progression, it would just be nice to get some cool new toys soon!

Lol calm down cul..I understand foundation is actually most imp. Takes many steps to get to where we all want, just saying we are all waiting for the big build where things run smoothly, new units added, game play rocks, etcetc We are all waiting for that Uber moment of being blown away by PA!

Yeah, I'm waiting for a few things myself...
Can you guess what I'm most excited about? ;)

Any detailed information on how the teleporters will work?

I really disliked the teleportation in supcom2, its too op imo to be able to just teleport directly into a enemy base and destroy vital powerplants defensive structures without any skill in comparison with i.e the "drill-tunneler" transports from Tiberian sun. I hope the teleportation will be gate-gate or at least more like the chronosphere from red alert which only transported limited number of units instead of the supcom2 teleportartion where you could transfer whole armies bypassing all defences with just one click.

Is this the 'big' update? Lobby passwords, major metal placement fixes.

    Beta Build: 57703
    • Lobby Passwords: Long awaited, make sure you can lock down your games to your friends. You'll need to share the password with them of course.
    • Major start spot and metal placement fixes. Please report if you're still finding significant unbuildable metal spots. Keep in mind, if you have very craggy planets, this can result in anemic start spots in terms of metal.
    • Numerous Linux Fixes: We've implemented SDL on Linux, which should enable full screen, fix issues with backspace doubling up, and a number of other errant behaviors
    • A number of server and client crash fixes
    • Loading screen is back: Should help make it clear when there is loading going on
    • Improved visualization of orbital paths/trajectory changes in Celestial view
    • Improvements to metal planet pathing and moon pathing
    • Support for audio on multiple planets now; Should make planet audio less confusing!
    • Bombers now use a carpet bombing technique. This will change their overall bombing behavior. Play around with them a bit. This will still require additional tuning, but consider it the first pass. Their numbers have been adjusted quite a bit to take these changes into account.
    • Hiding your commander underwater will be much less effective now.
    • Unit guard layer consistency pass

Yes, it is the update that is 'bigger' than the previous two change update.

It isn't a balancing attempt. They were simply refining how bombers work. It just so happens that it they are less powerful.

Bombers are MUCH less powerful now! All you have to do if your Commander is getting sniped in a bombing run, is keep him moving. Then it seems that the bombers constantly lose their lock and have to reacquire and make another pass. At that point, you can destroy most of the bombers with AA, or fighters. Also, they don't seem to really bomb units that aren't specifically targeted, or at least near the the targeted unit.

I know it's just first pass, so just commenting on the current state of things.

If you start the system editor after playing a game and "create new system" , it has the last system played preloaded for you ;)
