Everyone loves AMD. i mean they odd to at least. Im sure everyone here who is a bit older remembers what happens when Nvidia got ahead of ATI back in the day, was in the Geforce 4 series that was the turbine series, they was so loud that you literally got a headache from being in the same room as the graphics cards.

I personally go with whatever card each time i upgrade that gives me most bang for the buck. i dont care much for that gimmick known as physX.

And it would be down right horrible for all PC gamers even the most Nvidia fan boys would soon regret it if Nvidia ever got monopoly on graphics cards, suddenly prices would go up and innovation and incentive to to push each generation would go down.

Personally im kinda sad that there isnt more manufactorers. We would really uses at least 2-3 more CPU and GPU manufacturers. There is just way to low competition in the PC space on GPU and CPU.

Where as pretty much all other parts you have a ton of options, be it, case, cooler, ram, hdd, mouse, keyboard, monitor whatever.

Im guessing its the same problem with PC operating system, it would cost to much money to even dare to step into this space and actually compete, because said company would have to start from scratch.

If only 3DFX had still been here today. They were really ahead in terms of SLI. even though it was a bit different that todays SLI, but the idea was solid.

One of the reason many people had to bad experience with AMD is ironically they dont understand how to properly remove drivers, i cannot count the times ive helped people. because they just bought their new AMD card, put that in and installed the drivers, without removing the Nvidia drivers first.

Even if you get a new Nvidia card and dont remove the drivers before you put the new Nvidia card in your PC can cause the most absurd problems. i forgot that with my current graphics card. you should have seen the lightshow of colors in my games. It looked like i was high on something with all the colors i saw lol.

But also ive never and probably never wont understand brand loyality, no company cares about you. I buy what i think is best. Its like some people i know. they have probably worn the same brand clothes in like 20 years. i just find that kind of loyality misplaced.

Companies should be judged on what they make not on their brand of their past creations

Used GTX 580s are a pretty good deal right now, got recently a pair of them for 200 €. I got them for GPU rendering and other CUDA stuff, but even a single GTX 580 runs most modern games pretty well in my experience.
