It seems to me the backers' lounge is more of a tool for the devs to control the release of information or media. As a side effect is segregates the community into backers and non-backers for discussion purposes, but that is not its intent.

This is basically correct. I've always been against too many sub-forums.

The backers lounge is basically experimental at this point.

First you mistake what a backer is and for some reason you involve citizenship in your post.

I think most people are wrong about everything on this forum backer or non-backer. I've got the ranting out of my system in the first couple of weeks though so I'm not going to be tedious about it.
