Like the strike team idea myself. There ought to be someway of stopping these things, not an easy one, but a way(s). I'd like the option to completely destroy them too, perhaps by planting a bomb on it ala Armageddon, or zapping them with a captured death-star, or simply hitting them with enough nukes at a safe distance to disable it(so that it would need to be repaired). If there is no counter, you will just have people that rush to asteroids every-single-game, especially in bigger team-based games where players can just turtle safely behind allies.
Yes, but not all things need SPECIFIC counters. Going out and Killing it works in a large number of situations already. Mike

Yes there probably shouldn't be some kind of "Asteroid Defense" unit. I agree that would be boring. I also personally love the strike team idea, sending some units on the asteroid to capture it and then sending the asteroid to the enemy's base sounds sweet.
