I would also like the old behaviour returned, it made more sense, even if you want to call it an assist now, it's the construction proces of the factory I want to assist, not it's production of units.
If I wanted to set up an assist train I can assist the original fabber, but sometimes you just want assist the one factory not the next 20.

I actually need that order quite often.

If you assist a nuke or anti nuke with fabbers they don't build the nuke, they stay idle. So not sure why they do it with factories. I often make this mistake by telling my commander to help with the factory thinking like in TA it will just build the one unit and then continue on with the rest of the queue.

I prefer the TA way as you can shift queue orders better. Anyhows I agree with op is what I'm trying to say.

I've been using the 'assist' option on factories, Nukes and Anti-nukes with fabbers and they function as expected.

A unit set to assist a factory will stand there and build anything the factory starts building. I think the assist order has to be the last in the chain however, otherwise as you say the unit will go on to do something else?

I think in TA there was a difference between clicking assist on the factory and on the unit that was currently produced in the factory. That was really great. With the first order the fabber would stay with the factory and help produce units. By clicking on the unit, the fabber would just support the production of that one unit and could then go on with other tasks.

You could have just explained it instead of trying to put down anything I or others say. Just because I don't play competitively doesn't mean what I, or anyone else for that matter, says. You want a rational discussion yet aggressively disregard what anyone else says. You might want to work on that a bit, and since the game doesn't just revolve around esports (otherwise it'd be starcraft), players of all levels have a say in it. Making it fun across all levels of skill.
