Main objective vs. secondary objective is a moot point. Each class has a unique play style and when a player learns how and when to use particular skills, they become hard to kill.

As mainly a support player I cant explain the frustration is have when I face a team that knows how to counter my strategy. Mainly because I only have ONE STRATEGY and thats what makes Support such an easy class to play.

The complaining comes from players who haven't learned alternate strategies to combat certain situations.

On that note, did you know that the Male Seahorse is the one that carries the baby, not the female?

    it's true.

I guess I do, because if Assassins are made to kill bots and turrets, then I learned that I will never play Assassins.

Supports/Snipers kill bots and turrets faster than Assassins. Gunners/Assaults kill turrets faster than Assassins. Tanks kill bots faster than Assassins. AND they all have much higher surviveability than the Assassin.

So I learned there is no reason to play an Assassin (which I play minimally already) if they aren't made to mainly kill entrenched pros but rather to less effectively kill bots and turrets than the other classes.

I've played one or two games as assassin because I suuuuck at it.

I mainly play defense and run around my money ball cloaked.

Maybe I overreacted a bit before (damn headache makes you pissed at anything) but I still think that it's an unnecessary change.
If UBER could switch the cloak in a grapple on/off using the Live Update system (the one with no Microsoft verification) then I'd be fine with changing it for a while to see how it goes.
But if the patch doesn't fix the lag issues then I'll give up on playing assassin anyway.

Maybe its just me, but i never cloak during, or even straight after an assassination, and i rarely die. Ill sprint round a corner, or smoke bomb jump to somewhere then sprint.

That might be because i don't assassinate people in front of their entire base defenses. I choose a more, quiet, area.

But that is probably just me.

In this case, just how silly and inane rationalisations can be.

"But really, the assassin isn't SUPPOSED to be used to Assassinate! Play your role!"

    This^

I'm SO glad that reach is coming out, because I doubt I'll enjoy being not being able to kill supports, tanks, or snipers.

I believe that's how it was supposed to be! IIRC the online How To Play specifically says that hanging out near a Lazer turret was a good way to defend against assassins.

I don't remember that, but I have a crappy memory. Even with that being true, the amount of time it takes to sneak around someone in a base, backstab them and get out (depending on the level) you're going to run out of cloak power and take hits. It's not a sure fire thing, it just gave you a fighting chance.

That's your style, definetly. Also I think it might have a bit to do with your competition. I use my assassin more offensively, but now it looks like I'm just going to sit around my camp and play defense. This change makes clearing lanes a lot more dangerous too, If I'm clearing a lane and need to assassinate someone, the income blackjacks are going to kill me during my assassination attempt.

I really hope they change this back or the assassin's will become obsolete.

You realize that you just put the Assassin in comparisons with every class, right? So being the jack-of-all-trades class isn't enough?

I just played a game with perfect connection, no lag at all. I loved it, I could grapple people and hit lunges without falling off my target. The game is still awesome, but the lag is ruining it.

    Ditto.

I didn't know about it for the longest time, and even then i kept forgetting to actually do it.

I still do great team duties as an assassin.

Btw, you can still assassinate a support camping his firebase, summon gremlins first... they go straight for enemy pros, once they reach him, grapple followed by smoke and everything is fine. If he is on a higher floor then your support should airstrike his ***.

Im more dissapointed in the fact that freezemines/snipergrapple vs assassin issue was not adressed.

I recloack during grapples mainly when I go for supports, I could live without it usually, but it makes it extremely difficult to kill supports.

And I doubt they'll do anything about freezemines or the sniper grapple, because then snipers would get upset and want more nerfs on the assassin.

I don't play as assassin regularly. But I do depending on the situation. i.e. if we don't have one or they have too many snipers/supports.

Frankly, the change will help my k/d ratio/wins. But I like playing as a sneaky assassin. The lure of slipping into another base and taking someone out then smoking away is a blast.

It never felt overpowered as she is so easy to kill anyway.

I think the change will make for far fewer assassins and more supports & snipers... and now the best counter for a support will be another support.

    I haven't played a more balanced/fun game since Shadowrun.

4 maps and 6 characters... and I am still having a ball because of the game-play diversity. I like the re-cloak during a grapple. Please leave it there.

    Snipers are the real Assassins.

Tanks, Support with firebases, and Snipers with traps all murder assassins at close range.

Thats three classes that are advantaged over the assassin at close range. Which is what the assassin is suppose to be good at. The long range guy is even better at it. lol

Is anyone better then the support at setting up turrets? Or is there anyone better then the sniper at long range? Of course not, but alot of classes are better at close range against an assassin.

It was once my favorite class, and now is the worst class. I'm sure I could still be a decent assassin, but I'll now die while grappling against firebase camping supports and spawn camping snipers. Not because I lack any skill. But because the assassins greatest offensive offense has been nerfed even further. Every class already had a counter (shotgun, ground slam, charge, d. blossom and traps) Now support has shot guns and firebase. Snipers have traps and turrets.

If you want to murder pros use a sniper they're better at long and close range then the assassin.

Not being able to cloak after you initiate the grapple is huge blow to good assassins. Firebases and turrets will murder assassins now.

Like its been said before, its a good thing reach is coming out. :(

Everyone is complaining, like uber said the changes are not finalized, and if everyone hates it so much they could change it.

I think the main problem was being able to rush in and grapple the jack bot and cloak. Making turrets unable to fire at you inside the enemy base.

Also grappling uncloaks you on purpose because your ATTACKING. Just like the spy's back stab which gets rid of his disguise.

I think you guys need to stop the QQ and realize that cloaking in the middle of a grapple wasnt intended.

Complaining? How about discussing, the merit of whats being said.

They're are doing what they're suppose to do in this forum. A change that you said has not been made yet is unfavorable amongst the community it effects.

They're voicing their opinions on the matter.

Why "complain" about gamers posting thoughts in a forum where gamers are supposed to post their thoughts?

And in response, will snipers freeze traps disappear when they fire? Will the supports turret stop healing while firing itself or stop firing when the support is? No. But when the attacks and comes out of cloak thats their penalty. Why make it so that they can't have the quick thinking and go back into cloak if the ability has enough left to do so? Thats skill and quick thinking.

They live if they're good at it and die if they're not, while grappling. Why take the fate of the player out of the players hand. Thats not good for the player.
