I'm not trying to ruin it. I'm just stating I've never seen assassins out gun a gunner. Which is really how it should be. Just like gunners shouldn't be able to out grapple assassins.

Well, using the tips in this thread, I was able to get a 14-7-11 record with the assassin and finally get my last achievement for grapples. I know, not an uber score, but much better than I was doing when I was running around without a clue as to what to do.

I still need a lot more practice, and I'm learning that I prefer speed over cloak when upgrading my skills, so I'm slowly getting how to play the class. Thanks for the advice!

You'll get it, she takes time to figure out but it's very fun once you develop your playstyle

I get gunner kills rather regularly with my shurikens. If they're deployed, it's especially a no-brainer, and denies them the annoying jumpjet trick.

But the real lesson when it comes to shurikens is that between those and the fact that you're the fastest pro on the court, there's not much excuse not to be damaging something somewhere at all times. Whether it's a group of bots, a turret, or a lazy pro, sling those shurikens until you're closing to close-quarters.

Use shurikens the same way snipers use their flak ability. A stream of shurikens can make an advancing enemy back off, or make someone move from a position you don't want them in. Make a pro duck out of his campsite, then bounce them off the walls of his hidey hole for good measure. Or just help a teammate by giving their opponent one more thing to think about.

Actually netting kills with shurikens is often secondary to their usefulness in harrassing. If you manage to get a kill, consider it a bonus.

Shurikens will be the way to deal with firebases in important spots after the patch. All else being equal, you can damage a firebase faster than the babysitting support can heal it. It may take some time, but you can bring it down with sustained fire. The support will realize this, and if he's overzealous, he might try to chase you. See what you just did? You separated him from his security blanket. Be careful of the shotgun, and use your superior mobility to try to take him out, or draw him into a trap. Then resume destroying the firebase.

Actually i laugh at supports that try to shotgun me, with gold armor i'll survive it, the hurt'heal gun is the true threat.

And at cloak3, firebases are a joke

I think I've learned the #1 skill that an assassin needs: the fine art of escape. If you don't get the kill, then don't push it...get the f out of there! I'm also ignoring pros that are grouped up...I'd rather be on the other side of the map, killing bots and seeing if there's a turret I can take out than dying because I get over zealous.

I'm really liking the class a lot, but it takes a lot of heads-up play. You always have to be on the move and looking out for spots where you can help your team push or take out a jackbot...killing pros is fine and well, but it's much more fulfilling to spin my way through bots, cloak and dash to the other side and do the same.

Pretty much exactly how I approach the assassin.

Exactly ! which is why i say gold armor is a waste regardless of the fact of it doubling your hp. Assassins exceed by playing smart and ALWAYS having a way out..

Now to clear something up. multiple times in this post i see where ppl say they survive a lvl 3 grapple from behind as a gunner...

Let me assure you regardless of endorsements as assassin 3 there isnt a SINGLE class other then tank that can survive a back grapple if they are not over healed.

actually Carnage, even overhealed, i've yet to see a non tank survive the sword's backstab. I still prefer gold armor, other assassins can be annoying and if anyone is lucky to grab you you'll survive it well enough to dip out, and since the assault/sniper/tank launch you with their grabs, they're basically helping you retreat if you don't get rung out :D
