I've been playing vidya gaems since I was two on a dam near 100% daily attendance basis. Math Blaster and Reader Rabbit never knew what hit them. What video games are, if you strip away all the graphics and fancy bits, are systems. Systems have optimal ways to be run based on input parameters. Location, class designation, health value, available assets, position of known units, percieved position of unknown units - all are factors put into a giant decision making machine. When you've done those thought processes for nearly two decades, you simply get very good and very quick at them. SMNC in particular is good thanks to all the things you can see instead of hear. Almost everything in the game has a unique sound. My hearing sucks in general - I can't understand an accent to save my life and I won't notice what you say across a room. What I'm good at is specialized hearing. You drop a coin anywhere in a 2 block radius from me and I will be on it like white on rice. In SMNC, I don't have to always be looking at things to gather information. I know every move my Support makes purely by ear and knowing his general position. If you want to get really particular, you could notice an increase in air strike tosses or a decrease in footstep interval. Most of the time if it's by eye, I've just played enough to notice the speed increase. Euuh, Er. Ah... I am the stupids. Well... I know now?
It is a pretty good post, though I'm still confused as heck as to whats going on. 1. Devalue importance of solo queue. 2. Get chided about in-game criticism, have it exaggerated to the point of being blatantly insulting. 3. Roll with it anyway. Use the match as a means to show how faults, if unchecked, lead to horrid disparities in strength. Accept mid-game grump nature. 4. "You misunderstood bro." 5. Wat. 6. Stare at the earlier statement for 10 minutes. 7. Wat. 8. Give up. Wat.
You're still missing the point. What I'm saying is that you're a notorious rager. If a match isn't going well for you (and this has happened every time I've been paired WITH you in solo queue or in invitational) you start blaming everyone else, telling people they're stupid for not listening to you, asking stupid questions like "why is everyone here stupid, why aren't you as good as me" etc. I mean, you seem like a god damn saint on the forums but when it comes to ingame your etiquette is almost as bad as mine and that's saying something. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLrpBLDWyCI
I'm kind of confused in general Why is scathis the only UBER dev in the #YOLO lifetime appreciation club? I am so confused.
Angry when losing, I'll take. It's an non-enjoyable experience to have others increasing the difficulty of a round. Telling people to stop doing what got them killed, yep. If you walked across the bridge alone and got butt-mangled, I'm going to say to stay the heck away from that end of the bridge. If someone consistently repeats this, I'll start throwing in some "for Christ's sake" and "AYFKM"'s. On a good day, I'll explain the situation. On a bad day, I'll just tell them to stay the bleeding hell back and focus on robots, you're too weak to fight players now. This is the part that grinds my gears: Nope. Don't do this to an average bloke. As much as I recall, I've done this once. I was a clear carry at +2500 compared to the rest of the team, and the guy I said it to was negative KDR mouthing off that he was getting screwed over my his team. If you're going to start flinging scapegoats about, make sure you're in a good position to do so. I, quite vulgarly, pointed out that he was nowhere near MVP, and in fact bloody near being a detriment. As for the difference in manner, it's a bit natural. You can talk to a guy about what's right or wrong on the forum without dealing with all the massive data input that comes from being in the middle of the game. If he gets it down and does better, great. If he doesn't, no sweat of your back. It's not affecting anything for you. When you try the same advice in the middle of a game, it doesn't adhere, and the User essentially brings iron-toothed, god-killing, fed warriors from Heck to your base's doorstep, it's quite heavily affecting your game experience. @bloodvizor: The first picture is hilarious. The second picture scares me too much to laugh.
Following Monday midday music consortiere. This week's album, Signs of Mickey, featuring Reservations for One
Solo with pick up? Pick up with five man? All with all? I could understand the possibility of doing such a thing if queue times were to go past some desired threshold on average, but I've no hard-drawn data on such a thing. Uber guys do, I think. They take in butt-loads of data. It's known that 5 man v non 5 man is the quickest killer, so that'd likely not happen. Solo and pick up, eeeh. I've been jumping between them more often these days.
As it stands right now the only way to play with people you can account for and communicate with is SkillPlays on Saturdays (shameless self-promotion ftw). Some people have suggested to re-merge either all queues (solo, pickup and five man) or solo and pickup as a last measure, since three/two-mans are dying fast. Do you think they should do that now, under extreme circumstances or absolutely never again?
Since when did Embox become a mod? Jeez, play kotor 2 for a few days and everything seems to change...
