The reason why I like offensive fighters more then defensive is because defensive games are boring, just press the button at the right time. It's also to difficult to have your own unique style.

Oh, not true. Absolutely not true. With the exception of low-skill scrubs, I've seen every character played in their own way. I'm certainly unique in my style. I'm basically the "flying bear," since I like to jump a lot with Zangief (don't worry, I know how to do it in a smart way). I've seen Taki, generally a close-range character with lots of combos and pressure, successfully execute a long-range game against me. Just about every character can be done in various ways.

You said something there that interests me, though.

I think it's better expressed as press the right button at the right time, but really, isn't that how it works with faster games? Either you are pressing a big blockstring of buttons or you are pressing the attack button that is likely to hit your opponent. It goes at a faster pace in those games, but the principle is the same. I propose that you try C. Viper or Ibuki. They are basically made just for you. Try her out in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, then come back to Super Street Fighter 4.

Strider Hyru/Storm/Dr Doom main in Marvel vs Capcom 2, I'm just going to main whoever is in the high tiers and suits me. I play to win, and I've won a bunch of money matches.

Besides, I just think offensive fighters give me a bigger adrenaline rush. I'd rather rush someone down then turtle.

I am A hardcore beat em up enthusiast!!! only genre I have ever had any true passion for. with regards to SSFIV being full of turtles its only the shoto players that do it and is easy to counter with a skilled character like ibuki, dudley, guy, gen, cammy and other characters that take more skill to master then the 1 hit wonders that are ken, ryu, gouki etc players. I used to play competitive in the arcades when I was a kid on killer instinct, x-men vs street fighter, tekken 2-3, SFIIITS to name a few.I'm so hyped that SFIIITS comes out on psn and xbla later this year!!!! necro FTW!!!!! blazblue is such a beautiful game and such a refreshing addition to the genre that's been stale for the past 10 years its how I thought SFIV would be when I first played SFIII. that is hands down the best in the sf series (then alpha,sfII,ssfIV,EX) has anyone got the neogeo games from xbla?I got all of them but can never find matches online :(

Pretty much any character in SSF4 is capable of turtling and rushdown. It's just a matter of how they do it.

I'm just gonna say I'm looking forward to MvC3 and have SSFIV and BBCS.

Though I will add that it's hard to imagine Dhalsim doing rushdown.

But I like playing Rufus and he has tools for both offense and defense, so yeah. Second'd.

I played a lot in the late 90's/early Y2k WHEN DREAMCAST WAS KING. I placed really well in my region's CvSNK2 inaugural tourney with a Tier 4 Hibiki that a lot of people ended up copying (standing MP/MK, never jump, FP against jumpins). CvSNK2 was the last fighter I was really into and I can still kara like a mofo. I don't play many fighters with this current gen. While I own SSFIV I got bored with it (and it's community) and went back to Third Strike.

Recently, I was up in NYC for work the same weekend Chinatown Fair got SSFIV ARCADE in and saw some people waiting in line to try Yun and Yang. Everyone was playing conservatively and went back to the ol' standbys. I was disappoint.

Oh, I should mention I have Bleach 2nd for the DS and that game is FINE.

Bleach 2nd? I remember importing both versions.

I remember how annoying Uryu was in the first and how neutered he was in the second.

Dhalsim rushdown consists primarily of Yoga Fire crossups using the teleport to go into big combos, accompanied sliding tick grabs. Turtle Dhalsim is far more popular, but he definitely can rush.

true but its mostly the shoto "players" that use the technique.

Because jumping with Zangief is soooo unique compared to a Carl that prefers to do sandwhich resets instead of the clap loop, or a Fox that doesn't waveshine but tilts into aircombos.

For Street Fighter, it is. Jumping is often a very bad thing to do. You cannot block and you're open to so many anti-air moves. Good players will tend to spend most of their time on the ground because of this. I do it because I am aware of my moves along with theirs. I know what attacks give me the best advantage at each position. Some characters still really aren't worth jumping into. Boxer, Ibuki, Cody, Sakura, these guys all would beat out any aerial attacks I could do. Of course, I can use this knowledge as bait, but it's often just better to keep a ground game.

I suppose a change in tone is in order. My point is that my games offer just as much pressure as yours do, even at their slower pace. I simply enjoy more emphasis on strategy and less on execution. This is why I also plan on getting Yomi; no execution required for the same idea.

Oh man. You're just going to absolutely LOVE the changes Zangief has been given. Seriously. His FP range is even better, and I swear his LP piledriver now has vacuum-like qualities.

That is a link to a new CardGame created by David Sirlin. It simulates fighting games REALLY well and is incredibly balanced.

You can play for free here: http://www.fantasystrike.com/dev/

I'm not big into fighting video games because they tend to be too quick for me to handle. But I love the idea of out-thinking your opponent so I have been developing a card fighting game for nearly a year to experience the strategy of fighting without the need for quick thumbs. Much to my surprise this game is nearly the exact same game I was creating. Its actually pretty fun, too.

Figured you guys might get a kick out of it (especially Organous considering the game designer).

That game was exactly what I was talking about. I just don't wanna do the work of printing it out. I'd rather get the actual product. :p

As for the Zangief changes, I have mixed feelings about it. The EX Banishing Flat doesn't knock down anymore, though is apparently safe on it (for once). The new range of SPD will definitely give me a nice new thing against Guile and Boxer. I'm more concerned with what's happening to everyone else, and it does seem like Zangief may get back into the top tier. One of the fighter celebrities (I forget exactly who, somehow I'm thinking Justin Wong) is even evaluating each character by how well they can beat Zangief. Best of all, he's supposed to be good against the new twins.

Hah! Didn't even see you mentioned Yomi up there.

You know you can buy it right? You can buy the complete set for $100 or 2-packs for around $20 I think.

Gonna play the crap out of the browser version before I decide to buy it or not. $100 is quite a bit.

I love fighting games, but I don't think I'm really that good at them. I play Super Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Not any other games I can think of at the moment...

I play SSF4, very little BlazBlue, MvC2 here and there (trying to get better, I have some knowledge), used to play SSBM and SSBB, and whatever else I get my hands on, really.
Add my GT if you want to play SSF4 or MvC2. I don't rage and I have a mic. :D
If anyone is interested in SSBB/SSBM stuff, I have some on my youtube channel, but I don't have plans to make more, and it's not really any pro stuff, but it's there. Gonna start on some undecided project though, either a Let's Play of like, Viewtiful Joe, or some SSF4 videos.

    Mains
SSF4: Rose, used to play Dudley and Bison, learning Akuma
BlazBlue CT: Rachel, Tager and Noel
MvC2: Storm/Thanos/Popular Assist Here (usually Doom, Sentinel, CapCom)
SSBM: Ice Climbers, but also know a bit with Captain Falcon and Fox
SSBB: Dedede and a little G&W

I started young loving fighting games, but didn't know them like I do now, it was your typical button mashing. I played Double Dragon IV, Samurai Shodown, Clayfighter, Mortal Kombat 3, Tekken, Tekken 3, Bloody Roar, probably others.

I've seen it before, YHCMochi did it to some guy first round, I think in vanilla SFIV. Sadly, I don't remember the video title.

I think I'll be using Deadpool, Ammy and Wesker. Best combo ever.
