    So the short answer is: Most of the work the past 9 months has been on backend coding such as the Engine? :p

    No, it was 9 months of drinking coffee. Of course it was engine work, concepts and infrastructure -.-

    Mavor said that he was already working on the engine before they even started officially developing the game...

    You know, this is a basic release right now, checking, testing, not all features are implemented. Not implemented does not mean, they have not been working on them, they are simply not needed now for first testing, or are not finished completely for the alpha.

    For example, multiple planets, did they work in it? Yes. Is it implemented? No.
    All units in game? No. Did they work on more? Yes.

    I think we could continue that for a while.

    I was in the Supreme Commander "BETA", you know how much they changed every day?
    This is ALPHA...

    You need to understand that PA is game with other model of development with long support. Release date in this model it's just reason to say "game is stable and polished enough", but it's not reason to drop development like it's usually happen with traditional publishing model when most of sales planned for short period of time.

    I was implying Art wise. You can have lots and lots of code math-wise, but in the output, all you'll see is a Green Ball.

    Exactly this. Add on top that the community will have to tools to essentially develop for the game as well.

    You can have lots and lots of expensive 3d modes, tons of animations, super-realistic VFX and tons of post processing, but in the output, all you'll get is boring and unbalanced game.

    It's because RTS gameplay based on it's engine/scripts/rules/limitations, not on artwork. So I happy to see awesome visuals, but it's won't help game is bad.

    PS: I play Spring RTS based games and completely don't care that SupCom art is looks better. Why? Because SupCom networking are bad, because it's just can't handle big games.

    You and me both. I didn't get the alpha today and I couldn't even watch the streams due to NetBox Blue.

    I hope someone will be streaming In Australia otherwise I'm gonna have to wait until 24 hours from now.
