    Mhm, ok.

Would it be very offensive to say that those people, then, are either weird or stupid? Then again, I'd say the same about anyone who seriously uses 'tl;dr'... :p

But, fair enough. Too bad, but understandable.

I don't like to call people moronic too often...
but in this case, yes. The people watching the steam last month (thank you Mike) were asking moronic questions.

They failed to listen to what Jon and Elijah were saying... even when it was repeated for the 23rd time :?

It makes plenty of sense to not show videos of alpha. They didn't let us generate media for MWO in closed beta even, and I'm sure that was a finished state compared to what we'll get. I haven't been in an alpha before, but I'm excited :)

I wonder if there's a reasonable way to generate media privately within the alpha forums.

You can make unlisted YouTube videos. Only those with the link can view them.

People in the SMNC beta made use of this to show a few bugs to Uber. But at the time, that was a very small beta; if anything bad happened, there was only a few dozen people to interrogate.

Current state is: they are pretty comfortable with the actual appearance of the game. And tend to allow vids and streams, as long as we aren't claiming to be official. Maybe having a fat blinking alpha/betaon the screen.
    Though nothing fixed yet.

The Alpha should show the date so we know if the videos are of old builds or not.

Yes it looks awesome! But that can be a pitfall too, if it looks and plays like finished people will say something like: "It is alpha/beta so it is not final, but it looks like done so I will tell you what I think of it." see: Total Biscuit. Such people will try to be first and therefore be as early to "review" it as alpha. I hope not, but it is likely. An example: Gamestar.de has the lifestream of PA titled ~"early gameplay footage"
On the other hand. What are the possibilities that people do not share it anyway, even with watermarks and such. And to be honest I would like to see some footage(I am beta).

People on the web are from all kinds. It is just that the idiots among us are the noisiest
But the industry is getting more open. It is taking time until most people understand that their blockbuster games are not done by a John Carmack in a weekend project, but we are getting there.

If you're not releasing the server for alpha stage, then what about latency that may impact european alpha players ?

They'll probably be statically linking most of the libraries, reducing the number of dependencies. That tends to be the most common practice for non open-source games on Linux.
