7th Class Concept: The Bomber

    Curiosity, do you have any idea what you're talking about or are you just...making it up as you go? Don't answer that, I know the answer off course...

    Ok, so first you say he's more mobile, but now that he's not particularly agile... What...?

    Then you include travel time, and from what I gather from your original post explosive AoE damage, and talk about "aim". "Travel time", other than "damn near hitscan" being the absolute antithesis of aiming. You don't really "aim" slow moving projectiles (slow being pretty much anything outside of "speed of a real bullet"). You aim at a general area, spam a lot of them, and hope the target doesn't have the better judgment or awareness to move out of the way.

    You want aim you use the sniper. A class that would revolve around spaming missiles involves aim and better judgment in the same sense that driving a car requires wings.

    But ok, moving along, you have a class that's meant to hold terrain... I have yet to see how that's something that the Gunner or the Sniper aren't already doing, but ok, you wanted something more mobile... Maybe something with explosives and AoE attacks... Sounds familiar...

    I know that's not exactly what you wanted off course. Though what you really want is anyone's guess as your concept seems like a garbled mess.

    For instances, why the "flachette gun" ? In fact, what the **** is a "Flachette"? Did you mean Flechette? From your description it sounds like neither. It sounds like you're adapting the concept of a Flak Cannon. It almost sounds like something another game series has been doing for a while, except with explosives.

    And thus the question, what's the practical difference between your "Flachette gun" and a normal shotgun?

    Yeah...

    And why the rocket launcher? A slow firing high damage explosive on impact is already in the game...

    And why the "Jump jet"? This isn't Warhammer 40k. You're mixing the Smoke Bomb's jump with the Gunner's Smash... There's a reason, balance reason, why the gunner has his limited mobility and why the Assassin doesn't stun people when she lands...

    And what is the point of an homing shot when you need line of sight to place the "marker" anyways?

    I'll stop here cause I think you get the picture. Generally, a game like this is designed with a few classes in mind. By the time the game comes out, odds are the developers have considered pretty much most potential "roles" on the battlefield, and have either created specific classes or balanced existing classes for them. Even more importantly, by the time a good class-based game is out, everything has been balanced with these classes in mind. The classes are built into the game, they weren't tacked on.

    Dropping a new class in there requires, first, that you can find a role that no other class is performing right now, which you're unlikely to find, because, as we've seen before, that's something the developers probably took into account while creating their classes and the game... At least a significant enough role to justify a whole new class. Then you need to very carefully consider how everything that exists up to this point has been balanced, and how everything will affect and be affected by what you're creating... This is extremely difficult without testing, which right now you can't do.

    It's an extremely difficult job to do right, even for the makers of the game, to add something like this. It's a very damn near insurmountable task for someone on the player side of things that just started playing the game.

    Do you really have nothing better to do with yourself than to pick apart someone else's idea down to the last detail on a forum?

    No its not perfect, yes I made some conceptual/naming errors, its just a general Idea. I'm not a game developer, I have better things to do with my life. You just stated what I already made clear...and no, I did not just start playing.

    Instead of just being negative, and listing off all the reasons it wont work (a silly endeavor by itself) why not instead offer up idea on how it could work?

    I personally think instead of the assasin that they should of had a gadget type guy. Make him fast with light armor, no guns, a melee weapon, and then the rest cool gadget abilities for a broader range of destruction, remember tho that he doesnt have a lot of health...

    Why break down the idea to the last detail like you despise everything about it over something that was simply made to have something entertaining to discuss about? Chill out and think about how hilarious something that won't be added could be! :D
