Did you install the latest GPU driver? Can you find the installed PALauncher.exe file? If so, try right-clicking and running as administrator. One person up-thread found success with that. From another thread on this topic, one person found success by renaming their computer
Upload a DxDiag log here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/help/4028644/windows-open-and-run-dxdiagexe
It said "no problems found", I dunno if that makes a difference and I don't know if having pinkscreen.jpg open at the time makes a difference either.
@benzo7 1. Where did you get your version of the Uber Launcher? If you did not recently download it, it may be out of date. 2. Your Nvidia GPU driver is relatively recent, although there is a newer one available. See https://wiki.palobby.com/wiki/Updating_NVIDIA_graphics_drivers 3. Your Intel GPU driver is much more outdated. The way Optimus works, you will need to keep both Intel and Nvidia drivers up to date. Your current driver is from Jan 2018 and Intel published a new one just a couple of days ago. See https://wiki.palobby.com/wiki/Updating_Intel_Graphics_Drivers
1. I bought the game a long time ago, but I downloaded the launcher from the Uber Entertainment "My games page-thing" so I dunno if it would be out of date. 2. I assuming since it's relatively recent, it's not the problem, but feel free to tell me otherwise. 3. Probably the problem. Should I get those things that tell me if drivers are out of date?
1. A new PA Launcher was published this spring. Download it through https://store.uberent.com/download/pa 2. You should be OK with that driver, but updating it through Nvidia's site will offer you the the Update Notification program for Nvidia drivers. 3. Definitely update this driver. I am not familiar if Intel offers a similar Update Notification feature.
Yes, your DxDig file shows that you installed the new Intel driver. If the new launcher that you downloaded still throws a pink screen, try the alternative launcher mentioned at: https://forums.planetaryannihilation.com/threads/alternative-pa-launcher.68233/ Follow the github link and download/run the .msi file
Honestly I'd much prefer the official version. If only It'd ACTUALLY WORK. Why is it not working? It always worked on my old computer.
I understand. But @DeathByDenim is a respected community member if you are worried about any funny business with his launcher, which is why I gave you the link to his post. And it's also why I waited until I ran out of options before mentioning it. I can't say why the launcher is not working on your current laptop. This is like only the 3rd mention of it happening over the thousands of installs in the past 4 years. So there's not much troubleshooting material to work with. If we can't get the launcher working, the only thing I can think of is to convert your Uber key to a Steam key and download it through Steam
Yes. Be aware that there is a small chance that you will (temporarily) lose ownership of Titans (only have classic). If that happens, you will email support and they will fix it for you. Start here: https://support.planetaryannihilation.com/kb/faq.php?id=63
So I linked my account to steam (done it before but did it again just because) and then what? It says I still have to buy the game (Titans) (on steam).
Oooh, respected! By the way, regarding funny business: the launcher is completely open-source so any funny business would have to be in plain sight. See https://github.com/DeathByDenim/PAAlternativeLauncher Anyway, Steam also works, so carry on.
I've emailed them. Also, are there any files missing here? (This is before installing the game, because, you know, I can't.)
