Well, I completed my goals long ago (originally I wanted to swap some files and make explosions bigger, then I accidentally learned how particle system works). So, what does this mod? Read the name of it or something, it's obvious. If you need further explanation - WHY? Yea, and here is the thread for WIP version, which for now is exactly same as released one. Because reasons. And here is all the vids for completed effects, in-game effects should look like this (if not, it's a bug, you can write about it and I'll fix it) How about starting from ze most epic thing? Helios wiz death-star like explosion that drops down from ze orbit? Moar sparks for Achor and Helios weapons! NUKE!!! Vanilla and modded effect. Modded one on 45 secs. MOAR NUKES! NO MORE THAN 5 VIDS IN 1 POST? IM DISAPPOINTED!
Buildings explosions, now with smoking debris and sparks! Different missiles with some flares Also there custom effects for land units explosions, but I will change/remove them probably. And I'll make Anchor and orbital factory drop from the orbit. Maybe.
now that´s a proper nuke son helios and anchoreffect are also dope .. nice work .. i seriously love what modders are able to do with this game ...
yup, a shock wave would be a good idea. The lava and rocks look really cool, and unlike yer nuke effect the "dirt" thing kinda grew on me. I wonder if you could make use of the effect that happens when an annihilazer hits a planet and big slabs of rock get thrown around. Might look dumb with the atlas attack speed though.. The lava may look cool, but it also seems kinda dinky, like, it forms a "dome" shape, where it should make some kind of concave triangle (maybe anorexic cone would describe it better? i dunno)... the point is : your lava needs more vertical action. Overall I quite like this effect and the mod as a whole, I was kinda worried when i saw this in rel mods. Keep it up man!
Yea I need something to represent actual attack range, however just a shockwave is boring. Even multiple ones in quick succession (like in original effect) are boring. Maybe a shockwave represented by some more rocks will work. These rocks that you see in the effect - they are same as rocks in annihilaser effect, they just fly differently. Vertical lava? Like this?
totaly dig the second atlasvideo gives the atlas a nice vulcanic eruption effect shockwave or not it looks great
Not quite what I meant but it probably looks better, given the apparent tools, than what I was trying to convey.
Well can you draw what you mean? I just increased particle's speed so they fly higher, but it's possible to change the shape of their coordinates system. Right now it's a spheroid, I can try changing it to cylinder and tweaking some offset and speed values, but I don't really know what you mean.
Are you gonna do all the Titan weapons? The Ares cannons could do with looking a little more powerful, as could the Helios lasers
The idea I originally had makes a lot more sense with water and not lava, the basic idea being that lots of lava would shoot up at the point of impact and some more would bubble up from the cracks and stuff. having looked at actual volcanic eruptions I'd say yours is much better now. mad paint skillz Playing around with shapes never hurt anyone however, and I encourage you to do so. .... speaking of actual volcanic eruptions, they have lightning. It basically happens because of all the ash and stuff rubbing together so much, so it wouldn't be too ridiculous to think that might happen here with the "dirt wave". I might look a bit weird colour-wize though. I was just thinking it could provide that lil sumthin-sumthin people were looking for with the shack wave, without being boring.
I wasn't thinking about it as actual volcanic eruption. It's more like when Atlas stomps, ground melts because of pressure (cracks/lava appear) and then cools down (they disappear). My plan for now: - try different shapes for lava - add some glowing sparks to represent small melted rocks - lightning in dust - because why not - tweak lights/glares and stuff
Apparently it works with both water and lava, I just found this: However I don't know ho to make this effect without creating a ton of particles and crashing the game if there are more then one Atlas on-screen. Also, Atlas effect is made from 2 parts - big one with dust and stuff (one that I've changed), and smaller effect around it's front legs. I'll try to make something with second one.
