Ring world using CSG (not subtractive brushes). Needs testing. Known bugs: Naval units can't pass under ring icebergs (yes land units can pass under) Projectiles can't pass under ring Ring is not exactly stright (needs fixing) Units sometimes get stuck on ring. Ring blocks nukes Map play: This map is intended to be played as a 2v2. Each team being on one hemisphere (hemispheres being devided by the water ring). However it can be played other ways, just might not be as balanced Map Pictures (old version) Beauty shots: [Note] these pictures are from an older version of the map and do not include the most recent changes.
Woot, changes added some csg to lonely spaces of the map. changed the "back side" of the planet to include "wet docks" the concept of this is rather simple, it is impossible for naval factories to be placed anywhere in the "water ring" and since boats from the crater site cant go under the ring these wet dock locations were added to allow for 1 t1 naval factory to be placed at the far end of them, best defend it moved landing zones so teams actually start where intended added a little more metal (first post has new file to download)
Would it be better to just remove the water that is directly below the ring? I know it isn't exactly what you want, but at least it would be clear that ships can't go there.
well the only thing I could put there then would be a mountain or something because I don't want land units to be able to cross the water ring and that would look kinda silly. i guess I could play around with ice bergs... [edit] liked that idea so much i did it. Turns out the constant shadow of the ring causes icebergs to form directly below it in the water ring (who knew) changes reflected in rc2.1 Thanks for the tip!
I was imagining a metal barrier or something that would fit with your theme and look like a building of some sort, but ice works too. I guess you could do one of each if you wanted.
@Sorian Do you know if anything could be done to make projectiles pass underneath the ring and allow ships to path under it like land units can?
