they may well have been shot down as soon as they launched. although that wouldn't explain my transports surviving.
anyone else experiencing this? the transport unit is fine, but my fighters launch and look like they are crashing into the planet, and they are gone...

i think they are very related tbh. smaller scale units makes meaningful elevation variation much more feasible.

not sure if it's possible, but it would cool to see their econ meters during the game
i think ships should be able to move onto these extremely shallow areas but the trade off is they get "grounded" and cannot move further.
i assume the planet editor will be much more fully featured in beta and beyond that will allow us to do this kind of thing.
an old TA map, you can see plateaus in the corners, as well as moutains that can be climbed by some units, some hills and crater type features. none...
some variance in height there, but offers absolutely no difference to gameplay at all. it might as well be flat.

if units were made smaller, proper terrain elevation could be implemented. at the moment, we essentially have flat maps with a few "objects"...
