Why are they landing after reaching the destination? They don't seem to have fuel to conserve. All it makes is slows them down, divides the group (when some of them land and some don't) and makes them vulnerable to ground attacks. Just hovering or even flying tiny circles would make more sense. I'm not sure if it should be here on in general discussion...
Not sure why but it can be annoying if your fighter can't kill their scout sitting outside your base.
It's very useful, especially to prevent your air fabbers, bombers and gunship from being sniped by a peregrine run-by. (When landing in your own base)
Landing is fine so long as those units cannot continue to shoot when landed, otherwise it's really just massive cheese. I saw people suggest that air units can shoot landed units, but then what's the point of anything landing?
Neither can. It mainly makes assaults using air hard to coordinate. They shouldn't be hard to initiate, they should be impossible to let work.
I wonder if it would be best to just keep them in the air layer. Actually, it looks like a lot of work was done to make them land in the first place is the real shame of it, always a shame when work is spent in development and comes to this kind of thing. Generally, it is more consistent if they were to hover, maybe do a realistic "wide hover" where they sway in all sorts of directions, maybe make some of them actually fly small circles like bees when they idle just for activity, but I never was a fan of them landing and being shot by ground, or them landing and still being able to shoot air, or them landing and being hard to find or slow to respond.
Yes. Toggle landing on and of so that we can land of we want, and refuse then landing if we don't want then to.
Landing stops them from being targeted by air supremacy fighters and appear like ground units on radar. Both can be useful in the right situation. If you want them to stay in the air give them a small area patrol order.
I think air should just stay in the air. Maybe model them a bit different to make it clear they are based on some sort of super high tech gravitational control system and not on wings.
Like in the case of the '5 SXX instant win' scenario it is unreasonable to expect everyone to use the patrol order outside of its original purpose just to prevent being screwed over by someone exploiting the game's idiosyncrasies. Make the default behaviour work for the player, not against him. Macro game and all that.
The landing feature is too useful to be removed. I don't want my bombers/gunships/fabbers to be cleaned up by a run-by of fighters.
I am pretty sure I lost far more stuff to it when my fighters decided to land in the middle of a battlefield
Considering I can't have idle tanks take off when not fighting. Im not really much of a fan of the landing.
