Modders Forum Guidelines and Expectations

    This is fairly new ground for these forums, so basically:

    * Stay on topic. This is for modders and modding. If you want someone to make a mod for you, please PM them, don't post new threads about.
    * Have fun, stay nice, be welcoming.
    * If you're new, please read any intro guides or other things people have written. Nothing annoys hobbyists, myself included, like someone who comes in and can't be bothered to do a little learning on their own first. So don't be "that person".

    That's all! Have fun, and we look forward to this being a very active sub!

    Maybe create a sticky thread for mod suggestions to help cut out the spam of people ignoring the rules and making threads anyway but also from them spamming modders who don't really care about some random's idea.

    Edit: Perhaps I'll do so myself, actually, and curate it.

    I have a couple vague ideas, but I can't really go into PA and see how the gameplay is like and how I'd edit it since I'm tightly controlling my funds and my laptop would need the game to be optimised.

    I suggest tags on threads:

    [REL] - Released Mod
    [WIP] - Work in Progress Mod
    [REFERENCE] - Information
    [DEV] - Queries, mod help, etc.

    I suggest sub forums akin to what was available over on the GPG forums, even with active moderation this place will still get messy over time if everything just gets dumped here...

    I also second on the Tag system, it really helped on the GPG Forums.

    Let's start with the tagging, and we can start the descent into forum fragmentation once we have a sense of how to break it up. ;)

    There are a few bug reports coming in related to crashes etc. as a direct result of modding, it may be worth updating the "How to post a bug" thread in the Alpha forum to indicate it's too early for these (unless you want these to be recorded, but I imagine that would open a massive can of worms).

    I've been setting them as "Feature incomplete" for now.

    I don't saee why we need to wait, the sections that would be needed are, in my mind at least, very clear and based upon the different disciplines of modding as well as by 'Modder' or 'player' use, you know where to find me if you want a detailed explanation! ;p

    Please always write to each modding project the build version you have used, because lots of changes could be done in the future!

    So far I've been making separate REL and WIP threads. It occurred to me I could simply rename the thread as well. Which is preferred?

    Rename is preferred; it keeps all the info about a mod together.

    Rename. It is work In progress but playable. Then you officially release it and change the status.
