From here on out, I think balance is fixed. The only way the community plays another balance is if they play mods. I'm working on stuff on this front.

Whoa! Never expected such huge changes anymore! I really look forward to seeing the improvements with the sim speed!

Ok So I just tried another test of the new build and managed to bog it down a bit... sim speed was between 5 and 6 fps after about 20 minutes.

The setup was a custom map with a center R600 all water planet (no metal) being used as an orbit point to avoid long transit times.

Around it I placed 7 identical R500 moons all set as starting planets sharing the same orbit (took a while to ensure they all orbited in the same direction!).

    I set up a 3 v 3 v 3 with myself and 8 AI players.

What appears to be causing the bottleneck is orbital transfers (the more stuff flying between planets the slower it got).

    Still pretty impressive.

My CPU usage was still around 60%- that appears to be the usage limit. Memory was sensible at 10gb (not bad for 8 planets and 8 AI).

Which one? The one I get through my launcher is the latest. I even tried the Steam one, which also seems to be the latest.

Are you sure? This is from Steam, maybe I misread something, how do I properly ensure I have the right version?

Ah yes, then the Linux version is up to date, I read the message on the main menu wrong.

I assume you need to edit this to the older version number to enable you to play online?

Yep. There should be a message about that on start.

How can it be enabled on Steam for regualar users? (windows)

We got a mate that reaaaally likes building lots and lots of solar satellites. That would be a great benchmark.

Can someone post a brief on what actual performance gain we have with this new release?

    Many thanx.

Depends on so many factors like hardware, number of planets, number of AI, play style, etc.

    You'll see specific improvements in:
    • area patrol
    • pathing (less stuck units and better recovery of jammed units)
    • multiple planet (now multi-threaded)
    • multiple AI (now multi-threaded)
Try comparing a stable vs multi-threaded PTE local server with the following:
    • area patrol of a thousand dox over a metal planet
    • 10 absurd or uber aggressive Queller AI with 1x and 5x eco

It's nearly 2017 and Uber keeps improving PA... and it's not about cosmetic stuff, it's about big stuff !!!!
Thought @Sorian was busy on another project and actually, behind the scene he's been coding on PA.
One more reason to trust Uber statement about PA being a long term project :)
