I watched the last hour on twitch. A lot of math and an insane amount of tweaking. If it was all done in the session I saw, it took 7-9 hours.
Keep in mind that in vanilla there is no projectile, just a mesh particle and some normal FX. In other words, all Dom had to do for this was change the effects file to create this. Simple as putting an extraordinary amount of work into an fx file. This is awesome Dom. Nice work!
I do indeed, it's twich.TV/domdomdomdomdomdom (six doms) Not sure about promoting myself, it is pretty boring to watch.
What do you mean? Oh, so an indicator that is visible in space around the curvature of the planet? I'll think about it
Yeah, it is the ONLY negative I've found. And I say it is a insignificantly small negative, not a change request.
Well, it's a good idea. I just need to think of a way to have some orbital effect without messing with the aesthetic
When a commander dies, before the mushroom cloud, it produces a large blue starburst (and larger pillar) that can be seen from orbit. That is the best example I can supply. But, like you said, the problem is when and how something like that example would happen. The problem with a pillar of light is that it would blind the player when they are directly over top of the commander. If it were a pillar, it would need to brighten at a point a bit higher and the default zoom distance when the commander spawns. The other option would be where there are multiple large pillars that shoot out at 45 degree angles and intersect where are the commander landed. That's the best I've got.
