What are you guys talking about? Still point symmetry? What's impossible about point symmetry? :l

look that works but considring how small planets already are that's room enough for 1 - 2 mex and not alot of variety.

the planet will get confusing as so much of it will be exact duplicates.

I'm not so sure, I've already drawn up plans for maps, but we'll see when it's implemented. :p

nonsense. SupCom maps don't get confusing either.

Also, small maps in SupCom tend to not have high degrees of symmetry. So why would you make small planets with high degree of symmetry?? You wouldn't, normally. So, no problem here.

I see no problems at all actually.

Just create a start cell with edges that can flow smoothly into the next cell. Meaning, one side of a cell should be compatible with the opposite site of the same cell. Then project that cell across the sphere.

    problem?

Only one I might agree to see is getting the algorithm to create cells with edges that combine smoothly with other copies of the cell.

Since they don't seem to be listening, here's a map I've had some fun with:

that's because you look at them top down and always right side up!
I like the wall coming down the middle. very tactically interesting.

Is it possible for you to get a version where the wall is closed off even more and there are spawns on both sides?

Hm, maybe you are right. But there would a be a simple solution that we should have anyway - quadrants. A quadrant overlay that can be toggled on and off.

like a north and south pole but translucent letters that appear like a hologram overlay.....?[IMG]

    OMG dude! that's it!

    you found the solution!!

it would be so fukin amazing!!

Well... it is kinda off topic. He made this thread to show of maps, this hasn't really got anything to do with that. Only 3 maps in the thread so far :p So maybe you should do this discussion in pm or make a new thread for it. It is important, but it doesn't really belong in this thread. More people would also see this if you made a own thread for it, just saying ;)

Yeah, I reported them because it's a clear derail. This thread is for showing off maps and discussing new maps. Anything else is off topic.

That looks cool, there are some 'lanes' for sure. I'd like to see someone go a bit crazy with features, even if it doesn't look good. Create a really defined map with clear lanes and chokes.

Posted this elsewhere, but thought I better contribute x)
Might do a better version, but really tempted to just mess around for now ;) More to come..

This is awesome! How is pathing? Can those features be made larger? Make some lanes!

The pathing is good :D Did a test of it here.

Yes, all the CSG can be moved, rotated and resized. I found a size to work nicely with pathing. I did try to organise based in a grid (not obvious in the above shots), but mapping a grid of squares onto a sphere isn't easy xD

I'm going to have a go at getting them more grid-like now though.
