It sounds like a good thing in theory.
    eSports support, publicity on youtube.

From TB's explanation of it, one of the main reasons this hasn't been done up until now is the publishers don't want people to monetize footage, so the copyrights have never been shared.

Just curious if this has ever been considered?

    What?
I cant remember that any game I ever was into had problems with the publisher disallowing stuff like this. Why should they? Videos, streams and stuff are basically just free ads?!

Its more of a case that company's don't want people to make money from their products.

Please read Microsoft's EULA for all games Halo 4 and onward. (yes, this is currently just halo 4)

Good news here is that Uber can define their own terms, PA doesn't have a Publisher to answer to.

Here you can read the following:

This means that if you are going to monetize content on Youtube, the owner of the game rights MUST grant you the rights to do so. This can be done at the EULA (like Minecraft and FTL did) and accepted when you buy the game or later if the content owner so desires. Microsoft made clear on their EULA for Halo 4 that only people affiliated to gaming networks (like Machinima and TGS) can monetize their games` footage.

For now just using game footage with no monetary gain is not a problem.

I think the right question here is: Will Uber authorize monetization of PA`s videos on their EULA, or in any way at all?

Seems like such a trivial thing for Uber with the potential for a lot of good publicity.
Not sure how it works on the business end though, but having some sort of built in streaming mechanism would only help to boost this game into the eSports scene.

More publicity, more sales, more player base, more support, more modders, more chance of future content.

I don't work in the games biz so I'm probably over-simplifying things, but it seemed like it could be good, so I thought I'd drop a line and let you guys know.

It will be eventually (for those who care, if anyone).
