This has been talked to death but there was just one thing I'm really un sure of when it comes to being able to play offline, and that is how will it work? are we just simply going to have to run a server independantly from the game and then join "that" from a game list? almost like running a completely independant server on linux? or will we just simply be able to start a game in offline mode in game without needing to do anything else? I had the impression awhile back that we were basically just getting server files to run our own servers? so any clarification on this would be good, I'm thinking having our own personal server would use a lot of resources as apposed to most other RTS games just playing a skirmish mode in game as standard? might be wrong so any theories or answers are welcome. Sorry again for bringing offline up again.
I don't have a a confirmed answer for you; however, I will venture to guess that they will make the process as simple as possible. Meaning when you click single player and choose either the AI skirmish or galaxy, it'll automatically create a local server for you making it an easy streamlined process. This game will be for the masses and having to create servers before you do that stuff wouldn't be user friendly. Hopefully what I say will be true. Good question
We'll be able to just start a game. We'll be able to host our own servers as well, but you won't need to do anything complicated to play offline.
Thanks for the answers guys, I was just really curious as whenever offline is talked about its always about offline servers so was just a little confused on how it might work. Appreciate the responses!
