I've only been playing the game for a day and ive been thinking about team chat and the metal points but you guys are fast good job
Game has been out for a couple of weeks (alpha) and I expect people have been begging the most about these two features. Still, I'm very impressed with them. Just before the weekend we had an update, that was causing major crashes, and there was a fix out in like under 4 hours... :lol: Also the size... 500mb client, 5mb patches... I'm still too impressed... just don't know what to say... Any other game... 200mb weekly updates, easily... just at a loss for words... Keep it up guys!!!
Thats what happens when the big part of your assets (planets) are generated rather than saved We'll see larger sized updates once they start adding in the other factions, though. You have to remember that this is probably less than 1/4 of what the full game will be.
It is less more factions and moreso just different commanders and more units. Every "team" has the same set of units across the board. Once there are multiple types of commanders that will be your only "unique" unit.
While I understand the 1-faction rule is largely due to saving time on recreating assets, are you guys at all interested in faction variations? Perhaps as a game mode, or maybe exclusive to the Galatic War? For instance, I remember Red Alert 2 and Rise Of Nations, you could pick from a number of nations where-by each nation would have certain boosts to specific unit stats, or even a single unit unique to that faction, but overall each faction was 95% identical (ignoring the RA2 allied/soviet divide).
I like having a game where you don't have to worry about one race being overpowered compared to the rest... like Starcraft or SupCom, which are both games I love.
There will be faction variations; they are planned and take the form of Commanders having different abilities. Those abilities will never be so parochial as "5% better Bots". Such "abilities" would be more boring than a soggy rag.
Wow indeed I'm finally going to start some MP, I was waiting on the metal nodes being put into the game so there'd be some semblance of balance!
